Of course they left. I would too. No matter what you think of the money, that's just an insult.

I don't know how anyone on the corporate side of the company can justify constantly boasting about record profits, while charging fans ridiculous amounts of money to go to your shows that are 50% advertising, and asking one of your biggest tag teams to take that kind of a pay cut.

The corporate side is not speaking to the fans. They're speaking to investors, who don't give a care about the products they invest in, only the liquidity they provide.

That's straight up insulting.

I get mad at 3% raises. I'd quit too if I was asked to take a pay cut.

Holy shit! 50%?!?

zewm@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 11d (1 reply)

That’s literally the number everyone else through out. Some folks accepted and others didn’t.

Allegedly, at least one person accepted that offer that pretty much everyone agreed could have written his own ticket at AEW. No idea who.

Jesbus Christ.

Really makes me think that they wanted them out though. No way a serious contact offer would have that.

Especially not 1 year into a 5 year deal (which is only even possible because WWE deals aren't worth the paper they're printed on).

I haven't watched WWE for years now.

But I was under the impression, that the New Day was still a big merch mover.

Why would you let that go?

This is TEW 101.

Honestly, it makes no sense. The only thing I can come up with is that WWE didn't see their value because of their race.

This is my guess, too. It really pisses me off that this is a plausible theory in 2026.
