Yeah, great, I'm sure that'll be comforting for everyone who didn't vote for it, when they can't afford to buy the small amount of food that gets produced.

Eat the rich instead

y'all are looking at this the wrong way. the oil and oil shipping industry is looking an additional $31B in profit for no additional investment! Winning!
VieuxQueb@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 10d
Aren't you getting tired of winning so much !

Social media is full of idiots that think:
Oil companies have some kind of loyalty to the US and that’s why (whatever marginally lower gas price where they live is the way it is despite it still being 30% higher than a year ago and they ignore their power bill) or they should “just lower prices.”
Flock cams are simultaneously good for keeping an eye on the “usual suspects” while they also claim the corporations running them are beholden to the 4th amendment and cannot be used against the white person talking about it.

After watching Farming While Beige and reading into farmers, yeah nah, they'll be fine.

Thats okay. Government bailout per usual
im_fine_sandy@nord.pub · 12 pts · 11d
Actually the bond market is showing signs that the US really cant afford to bail out much of anything.
resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe · 1 pts · 10d
Not how fiat currency works.
im_fine_sandy@nord.pub · 3 pts · 10d
Oh yeah, because currency is just numbers on a computer right? Why bother with these pesky bonds and yield rates at all. Just fire anyone who says you can't spend your way out of bad headlines.
resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe · 1 pts · 10d
Haha, yes, unironically.

Spare me the tech-bro finance.
Yes the fed does set yield rates but there are grave consequences to unreasonable manipulations - it's the antithesis of the role of the central bank.
resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe · 2 pts · 10d
“Tech-bro finance”?!
Stephanie Kelton, a leading economist who teaches MMT, couldn’t be any further from tech bros.
You just don’t understand money. 😄
im_fine_sandy@nord.pub · 0 pts · 10d
That's contrary to the consensus.
kibblebits@quokk.au · 0 pts · 11d
One of these days there won’t be a bail out and everything will just catch fire and the whole country will die.

They’re killing off all but the largest farmers to consolidate land under fewer people.
And, yes, if you can make a living at farming you’re pretty wealthy.
But this is land going from a million millionaires to a dozen billionaires and that’s not good.
knobbysideup@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 11d
And they'll be bailed out and subsidized as always. Farmers are the richest poor people you'll ever meet.
VieuxQueb@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 10d
The billionaires are looking for farmlands lately. The farmers are just poor millionaires, they might not get a bailout if the billionaires can make a profit by buying cheap.
VieuxQueb@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 10d
And then you get less food, thus more expensive food thus the billionaires make even more profits! It's a win/win for the billionaires.
knobbysideup@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2d
We don't need more food. Farmers are subsidized to throw things away. We grow corn to add to gasoline.

The USA is loosing like 65 farms a day since 2017. It's a cultural genocide.
