RTSG is a patsoc channel that promotes the ACP.

umbrella@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 15h (2 replies)

The ACP has been described as "MAGA Communist".[13][27][28] Both notable ACP founders Jackson Hinkle and Haz Al-Din have promoted MAGA Communism and similar "conservative communist" labels since 2022. (...) and both anti-Donald Trump[23] and pro-Donald Trump by critics.

for those who also didn't know.

Cowbee@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 15h

Thanks for the context addition, and sorry! Forgot for a moment that not everyone is a terminally online Statesian communist like me.

Aka national socialist...

Idk who this creator is, but all 7 videos of the videos he's made so far is just complaining about the only leftist movement gaining power in this country. Zero videos on the MAGA fascist danger destroying this country and committing genocide in Palestine. Just how evil and bad Mamdani and the DSA is 🙄. I think the asmongold clip channels have that genre covered enough

geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml · -3 pts · 1d (10 replies)

I recommend watching the video instead of analyzing the channel before doing so.

the exclusion of bad empanada from this list of frauds is telling since he's just as much a radlib than any of the examples they cited.

geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml · -1 pts · 1d (2 replies)

Explain what makes BE a fraud here

eldavi@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 1d (1 reply)

To be clear: I don't think he is.

However the video asserts that these people are frauds either because of their support for the DSA or because they claim to be leftist but don't practice or adhere to the narrator's interpretation of Marxism/Leninism -- which qualifies bad empanada.

I don't believe many (if not most) are not frauds. I think that they genuinely believe what they're saying/doing and the important distinction seems to be if they make any lasting impact on society on a global & historical scale -- the proof in the pudding that the Marxists are the only ones that have a viable, battle tested formula.

So how well those people understand and practice that formula will determine how much lasting impact they will have -- fraud or not.

One thing which BE doesn't do is start his own movement but as a commentator outside of the US I'm not sure how that would go. He does advocate for people to start a different party but never talks about any existing 3rd party options and his opinions on those. In that aspect Brianna Joy Gray is someone who's a lot less on the fence and clearer

Still I wouldn't apply this criticism only because he doesn't have his own org because once again, he isn't in the US. Selling out is when people start softening their rhetoric to "appeal to the masses" (aka get more views). And especially refrain from criticizing other leftist creators when they sell out. The Platner debacle was a prime example of this.

lemonhat75@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 1d (5 replies)

Listen, I dream of a future where people like Mamdani and AOC aren't progressive enough for the leftist movement.

That future requires class consciousness. There is none in the USA. If you didn't learn from Jan 6, if a revolution happens tomorrow, it will be a fascist one. Not a labor movement.

When FDR did the new deal he dominated politics. Look at how much power a right wing fake populist, Trump, is able to mass. Just imagine if you started actually improving their lives and showing them how a government can work for the working class.

Go talk to normal people. You're not going to convince them of a better world through socialism by just explaining it with some nerdy ass marxist shit. It's a non-starter, but I guarantee if you give them a taste of it and they will crave for more.

LemsGhost@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 1d

Jan 6 was a spectacle. Nothing close to a revolution wtf does storming the capitol do. The Nazis in the USA already had their revolution, and are in control.

Cowbee@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 17h (3 replies)

Working people aren't stupid, you can explain Marxist topics in digestible ways. The path to socialism cannot simply be the economist approach of welfarism, because that fails to address that the capitalist state is a dictatorship of capital. Revolution remains necessary. We shouldn't oppose reforms, but we should explain why they either aren't enough, are vulnerable to rollback, or why they fail to get through, depending on the case.

lemonhat75@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 16h (2 replies)

I think Mamdani, AOC, Bernie, etc are showing marxist ideas in digestible ways. More people are talking about marx and socialism because of them. Most of the comments in this video praise all these people as their introductions to socialism. Everyone has their part. These people aren't our enemies.

Cowbee@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 16h

Mamdani is the best among them, but reformism itself is an anti-Marxist position. They may be Marxist inspired, but without a concrete understanding of the nature of the capitalist state, it's enormously difficult to gain change. I agree that they have contributed to a proliferation of socialist sympathies, but at the same time they have muddied what socialism is. They are therefore both positive and negative, and therefore the task of Marxists is to relentlessly explain why they will not succeed.

Maeve@kbin.earth · 2 pts · 16h

Too bad he's buddying up to giving fascists kill money.

umbrella@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 1d (7 replies)

infighting is counterproductive. these people are not democrats and have mostly the same goals and methods as most socialists. they are also doing a couple of the things that can be done for it.

Plundering other countries for free healthcare?

umbrella@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 21h (5 replies)

i took them for anti imperialists from what i know and previously seen them say?

geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml · -1 pts · 20h (4 replies)

Well you're in luck this video addresses exactly that.

umbrella@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 17h (3 replies)

i skimmed the video before my first comment. the video criticizes the DSA and zionist socdems like mamdani and the youtubers for critically supporting it.

which is fair, they have plenty to criticize and the DSA is lib as fuck, as is expected from the imperial core. i don't think that necessarily makes them into monsters though so far.

maybe it's just me but i expect this sort of stuff somewhat from the core.

i might be wrong, i haven't watched content from these channels in a long time so 🤷

geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml · 0 pts · 17h (2 replies)

The problem is that US "leftists" virtually always compromise on imperialism with Liberals in exchange for treats. Platner was the perfect example of this. This video shows how some perceived leftists are also guilty of this.

The real question is what solution is being promoted by the influencers. Whether they push for an alternative or glorify DSA style reformism. In this case it's the second

umbrella@lemmy.ml · 0 pts · 16h (1 reply)

i mostly agree with what you said. but for now whenever i talk to lay people here, it's about being organized as workers at all as opposed to where. most people i talk to are much further right than me.

i'm not from the us, but don't think i've ever seen any organization with similar power to the left of the dsa in there? is there one they could suggest to us people just learning about socialism from youtube that would get them up to speed?

geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 15h

There"s the Greens and PSL. This channel seems to be ACP but I'm not very familiar with that.

The crux is whether to do reform and compromise or to fully abandon existing parties. This video does a pretty good job of giving examples of it
