There very much is an argument against it.

The risk of abuse weighs much more severe, your core family has different societal roles and you just shouldn't do that.

The only valid argument against is the genetic issues if there is a baby. So long as there is no reproducing there is no problem.

The only reason why it tends to be shunned is that any babies created from it typically have problems. Cousins were usually OK because the problems were less visible.
