Search contacts' addresses?

Is there a way to make CoMaps on iOS find contacts’ addresses on search?

That is, if I enter “John Doe” in the search bar it should show John’s address as entered in my iPhone contacts.

I feel like this must be there but somehow I can’t find it.

For me on Android when i click on an address it can only find it if i have the local map downloaded, which is annoying, but the other way could be fairly simple i suppose: just a list of PoI's based on info from contacts. Not an answer to your question though.

Where do you even go to see a contact to click it? I have the local map downloaded, but CoMaps seems to be completely unaware of my contacts at all.

Sorry that wasn't described very clear, in my contacts app i can click an adress and choose to open it in CoMaps. It just puts the adress in the search field, but only gives a good results if it is within the maps already downloaded. That annoys me, because I don't mind to download that map but without search I have to manually go to the general area and click download. Worst case if I dont know what area it is I first have to look that up in another app.

Hm that sounds cool but on iPhone tapping an address from contacts seems to only go to Apple Maps. Apple permits options for different default apps for a couple different functions (mail, browser, etc) but not for maps :(

Yeah selecting an adress in Android works like a shortcut, you first click 'open in maps' or something and then you choose an app, you can choose to automatically open in a app of your choice. Similar to when you open a file and it asks you what app to use or indeed a url, or an email. But I feel Google is jealous of Apple's monopoly. There is a lot of bad to be said about Google but I like how they never closed it down like Apple did from the start.

Apple does permit to appoint non-apple default apps for maps and navigation(settings > apps > default apps > navigation) or something. Also CoMaps can be selected there. Doesn’t work in combination with the contacts app though 🤬

I think they do have that option in the EU. Can't test it, because I am not :'(.

Wow. I didn't even know CoMaps could do that!
