JD Vance could provide neither a timeline for the Iran war to end nor a date when gas prices might sink below pre-war levels during a White House appearance Thursday, suggesting instead it was up to Iran to conclude the conflict that began with joint US-Israeli airstrikes six months ago.
The current hostilities shouldn’t even be called a “war,” Vance argued, since “active combat operations” ended months ago.
“Right now, there is no active shooting,” Vance insisted, despite three consecutive days this week when the US and Iran exchanged fire, including around the Strait of Hormuz.

Cnn calling it a conflict in the headline, instead of the war that it actually is, is just proving Vance's false point

I think there might have been some difference of opinion between the article+URL author and the editor given the URL says war lol

I'm beyond caring what Trump says now, but I never cared what Vance said.

The Vietnam war was also not called a war, it was called a police action. It seems the Executive Branch's ability to wage war without congress's approval is a constitutional loophole.
Edited for clarity

Ah. Say you're a war mongering dictatorship without saying you're the same as Putin and co.

Republicans would have to pay widows and orphans benefits if it was a war…
Soldiers are just expendable. No cost once they are gone.

Even G.W. knew better than to try and take Iran. And he put us in two forever wars!

All you Negative Nellies are so eager to dunk on the VP that you can't even hear his point. Sure, there's a "conflict," sure, our militaries are "shooting and bombing and trying to kill each other," but you've missed the important thing, which is all the peace that's happening. See, there was a moment of peace just then. And here's another moment when no one is shooting now. And here -- uh wait, wait just a moment -- here's another moment of peace now.

Definitely not a war. Just some tit-for-tat shenanigans. A little fun blowing things up. Can't stop the boys getting up to some hijinks now and then.

Well, so long as the Secretary of War isn't involved, then it's probably not a war ...
