Hey all not new to the fedi, but I am new here. Ill be moving down to melbs soonish so thought it a good time to say hi. I have been lurking for a whilst.

Cherry@piefed.social · 7 pts · 6d

Thanks for the welcomes all. I am currently overseas, have been for a few year and now heading back. Restarting life in Melbourne after QLD, don't know a peep in melbs. Looking forward to the legendary coffee and the rain. Not looking forward to the move.

Seems chill and fun in here, always good to see.

Hiya! We have cats and do breakfast

Cherry@piefed.social · 4 pts · 6d (2 replies)

With the cats? joking. Who does not like cats and breakfast.

Catfish@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 6d (1 reply)

Of course. Try telling a cat they are uninvited to breakfast and see how many toes you have left...

Cherry@piefed.social · 2 pts · 6d

I am not silly enough to think a cat would listen to a human.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 6d

Heyo, Where are you moving to? Living near work is premium, else a tram/train line.

Cherry@piefed.social · 3 pts · 6d (1 reply)

Not sure yet, I don't have a job, don't have a house, don't have a car. Plan is find a holiday let and start looking for all.

I have an old colleague in Geelong, she says its nice there.

CadMunt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d

G-town is nice. It's a quick train ride into town.

Meal prep-ma-geddon. I've been cooking a meal prep daily for a week. 20x apricot "chicken", chilli, pasta "meat"balls, dahl and shepards pie. About 100 meals filling the big new freezer I bought. I also made a dozen or so in take away tupperware to give to friends.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d (2 replies)

Well done! Perhaps you would like to join us at !foodaustralia@aussie.zone where pics are most welcome.

CadMunt@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 6d (1 reply)

I don't really have any pics. A Fisher and Paykell 389L Upright freezer and a shitload of the IKEA $2 square glass tupperware.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 6d

Oh you don't need pics. Just tell us what you're eating.

T4peMeasure@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 5d

now we know where to go when the mageddon happens ๐Ÿคญ . but seriously, well done on the effort and sharing the meals with friends๐Ÿ‘ .

Catfish@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 6d (4 replies)

Would people like to combine Games & Halloween @ mine? Dressing up optional but I'd make very silly food. Spooky butler cats available. cats with cardboard batwings

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d

Sounds like fun, but will confirm a bit closer to the time.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d

Yup yup!

Catfish@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 6d

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 6d (2 replies)

Freezer failed last week while I was away. Got it working so it's refrozen but 4 days.. A lot of it is still maybe alright..

Need to clean.. may as well do the fridge at the same time...

๐Ÿ’€

Catfish@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 6d

4 days? Wouldn't risk it. Might even be worth insurance claim depending what you had in there

CadMunt@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 6d

I've got a 3.5 drawer upright bar freezer for free in Springy if you want it. If anyone does really. It's a bit used-as-a-whiteborad but it works fine. I bought a 400L upright bad boy to hold my meal prep Armageddon.

ugh, reading and watching too much on personality disorders, now all i can think is I have one

ok, self assurance here, just because I have faults I don't like doesn't mean i'm disordered or evil

the worst is treatment for trauma reveals disorder

I'm going to play around with the DSLR we have at work here some more. A proper digital camera isn't super necessary, but it would be nice to have.

Is anyone here into photography? Have any particularly strong opinions on cameras?

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d

Schneider lens good. That's all I know.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d (7 replies)

Dinner with Boyo's fam, it's the end of an era for them and I'm really happy for them.

How is everyone going tonight?

Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d (6 replies)

Sounds like a big deal. ๐Ÿ“

I'm human enough to think work tomorrow is possible, but not actually keen on the idea.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 6d (5 replies)

I cried on my way to work this morning, I'm still trying to decide if it's just a) self doubt b) genuine distaste c) already sick of having to wrangle young men that clearly don't want to work.

Either way, we can do this Cat!

Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d (2 replies)

Oh Hon. mega hugs from PickleTwistie Sometimes young men are their own worst problem. Don't avoid the word bitch.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d (1 reply)

God I love PickleTwistie!!!

Also, I haven't been playing PoGo a whole lot lately because I kind of got burnt out on Pikachu, but today I fiiiiiiinally had enough candy to evolve my Toxel and I was all "if this evolves into one I've already caught in raids, I'm so done with this game" and lo and behold... it turned into the one I didn't have. So the game is working to keep me!

Catfish@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 5d

I've not done Toxel yet. Only just evolved Snom, now working on Larvestar. The 400 candy critters are MEAN. And so is the tram to work for being just fast enough the distance doesn't count.

CadMunt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d (1 reply)

You got a bunch of fucknut kids in the warehouse?

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d

One young man takes any excuse to vanish (he's been around a few years), one young man seems a touch overwhelmed by everything I'm trying to teach him. Which I get, nothing in that place is straight forward, but you don't need the big forklift for lifting jute rolls!!!

StudChud@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 6d (9 replies)

So I figured I had HSV1 because mum suffered cold sores since before I was born, I assumed I caught it from birth from her, but never had an outbreak. I don't remember ever having a cold sore, maybe when I was a kid? So over 20 years ago, maybe 25.

Well, guess who has a cold sore? This sick bitch. It's on the corner of my mouth so opening it to eat is painful.

Why now though lol like, I've been in way more stressful situations than where I am now and it didn't break out then. Riddle me that, Batman.

(I know I'm whining, and I know many people get cold sores regularly and that sucks arse).

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d

I've gotten them forever, probably also from my mum. I get them when I've had too much salty food - anytime I've been to the cinema and eaten popcorn, boom, cold sore. I still do it though!

Catfish@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 6d (7 replies)

Sympathy! I got it from being a dumb teenager, but haven't had one in over 20. Knew someone whose kids were born with it on the inside of their eyelids. shudder

StudChud@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 6d (6 replies)

::: spoiler inside of their eyelids :::

I cannot imagine having this in or on or around my eyes nah no way fuck that noise

Partner gets outbreaks occasionally, no rhyme or reason, maybe 1-2 times a year? So we have cold sore cream on hand ๐Ÿ™Œ I've been off The Pill for a couple of years now (so normal regular periods) and still didn't get one until this week (I've heard periods can trigger them). I just wish it wasn't on the corner of my mouth, it's a high movement area and it's hurts. Doesn't help that I tried popping it when I thought it was a zit/ingrown hair ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ˜ฌ "cold sore" wasn't on my mind since it's been decades since I had one ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

Catfish@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 6d

'Not on my mind' is how I got a scar popping a zit that was actually chicken pox. Realised seconds later.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 6d (4 replies)

good ol' crabman. I often wonder how many people who use that image actually know the origin

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d (2 replies)

I don't, what is it?

Taleya@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 6d (1 reply)

Nothing problematic don't worry, but if you ever get the chance check out the wonderful series My Name is Earl

that particular reaction gif / still is from the ep 'Joy in a Bubble' but I won't spoil it.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 6d

Ohh yeah, I loved what little I saw of that show! Will try and find that ep, thank you!

StudChud@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 6d

I loved My Name is Earl, I really should watch it again
