New gray fox at Juniper Fox Sanctuary

“I am very excited to announce the arrival of this special little guy, who is the first ever gray fox to join us at the refuge!

He has had a bit of a rough start and lost a majority of his nose after being attacked by an animal as a baby, just like our beloved raccoon, Cheese! Because of the extent of his injury he would likely not have been able to survive if released back into the wild, so his caretakers at the Carolina Wildlife Rehabilitation Center opted to place him with a sanctuary.

He has been with us for a little over a week and has already stolen our hearts. He is extremely confident, curious, and friendly, making him an excellent ambassador for his species and I'm looking forward to exploring the world of gray foxes and how vastly different they are from our well-known red foxes.”
