Source for the image?

SwingingTheLamp@piefed.zip · 5 pts · 9d (4 replies)

There's a Nat Geo TV show called Secrets of the Penguins which looks like a possible source. I found a video clip from the production entitled Penguins Invade Camp, but it's on a Meta site, so I won't link it here. It doesn't have this image, but the tents are the same color, at least.

After digging for like an hour, I am pretty confident this is fake. Either slop or edited.

Story generated by this shitty AI facebook account https://www.facebook.com/epic1333/posts/jason-traveled-deep-into-antarctica-searching-for-something-most-people-would-ne/122143487768997285/

Post then stolen by another shitty twitter account few days later but with the fake image fake in question https://xcancel.com/Mr_Husky1/status/2058055321994817634#m

Those are emperor penguins. Adults are about 1 m tall. Scale is way off in this slop.

RogueBanana@piefed.zip · 2 pts · 9d (1 reply)

Saw the same comment while searching but they mentioned its a different species instead.

Deme@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 9d

Well I'm quite certain that they were wrong. Wikipedia has a neat list with pictures of all the species of penguins. King Penguin is the closest, but those have much stronger oranges on the sides of their necks.

Sir, some of these devices have a perfectly good Linux kernel running but the user space and drivers are completely corporatized!
