These R Senators are responsible for all the bad that Trumpepstein has done this term. They have the power to remove him from office and they won't do it. So their actions are consent to his villainy. Remind voters so that they will vote them out! And do we really need to see Collins as the next Weekend at Bernie's senator like McConnell?
You are letting them off the hook easily. They are responsible for a lot more.
Susan Collins said she would only serve two terms. She is running for her sixth term. She voted for the Afghanistan War and the Iraq War. On Oct. 6, 2018, she cast a deciding vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. He later overturned Roe v. Wade
Mike Rogers cosponsored bills to ban mifepristone, the most common abortion drug in the U.S. He has voted repeatedly against allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices.
Rogers introduced the National Pain Care Policy Act, a bill to expand access to prescription opioids but didn't include penalties for over-prescribing. His bill was praised by Purdue Pharma
This is exactly why I have no faith in Americans and their midterms, clearly things are not bad enough in the U.S. as there is no way these races should be close.
I think there are two big things to look at here that complicate this. First lots of polls are fake, bad, or intentionally misleading. In this case the polling place is SRSS, which currently is advertising an AI audiobook comparison. Considering there have been high profile fake AI based polls lately, I'm not willing to blindly heed this one.
Second, is that centrist Democrats are doing their best to sabotage Michigan. Voters who didn't participate in the primary and who haven't been watching Stevens vote with Trump are seeing a wave of editorials and other articles from ostensibly 'left-leaning' outlets attacking El-Sayed.
I think Michigan voters are smart enough to see through this, but it would certainly help if media outlets didn't seem so determined to make it close when it shouldn't be. Other strong Michigan candidates like McKinney will help make sure Dems turnout in November, but until then ignore polls, work hard, and don't fall for the editorial lies
The centrist establishment dems would rather lose control of the senate to Republicans than win with a progressive. Then, if El-Sayid loses, they will say, "we told you he was too left wing!"
I’m Canadian and we are forced to learn about American politics or else bad stuff happens.
I sure hope the sane among you can see through all the noise and vote for better options. El-Sayed sounds like an excellent choice, centrist Dems trying to tank him should be strongly corrected.
Whatever happens at your midterms unrepairable damage has been done to relations with Canada. A damn shame, we always knew what the U.S. was, and now that the mask has been ripped off by Trump, everyone can see it.
If things are as bad as they are in the country, then people are just busy struggling to survive. They're just trying to make it to the next meal or the next rent payment.
right, so you'd think that wouldn't incentivze them to vote against the politicians who made it that way, rather than double down on the insanity and yet here we are.
A lot of people don't see a direct correlation between their struggles and the policies voted on by their politicians. Heck, they don't even have the time to check up on them.
Besides, we Americans were raised up to put our heads down and work.
In Maine having Platner flame out in such spectacular fashion did not help Democrats at all. That said, with a split of 48% to 45%, that leaves 7% either undecided or listing a different candidate. Couple that with a stated error of +/-3.7%, and the poll is putting Jackson with anywhere between 59% and 44% of the vote, if it were held today. The polling average has been pretty stable. And SSRS's poll isn't telling any different of a story. So, maybe this will be the year we are finally rid of Collins's "oh I'm concerned, but not concerned enough to actually vote against Trump".
Michigan is similar. SSRS lists the race as 47% to 44%. This leaves a 9 point gap in Undecided/Other. And a stated error at 4.1%. That's a lot of room for these numbers to swing. Though the polling average has moved a lot more in the past few months. It probably doesn't help that the Democratic Primary took a bit to wrap up. But, a slight lead in a heavily Democratic national environment, with enough undecided voters left to shift the race, isn't the worst place to be.
This is nonsense. I only trust Nate Silver’s FLIPR.
Any one poll is likely noise, silver uses aggregated weighted pools that take a lot of factors into account and Michigan and Maine are D favored in both places by a couple points.
Any one poll source on its own is usually just narrative fuel.

Why do you think people like me have been saying for a decade that we're screwed?
Fascist propaganda has decades of weight behind it. Oligarchs have had success after success since 1980 and longer.
It's been a long time coming and it has only gotten worse and worse and worse.

CNN can eat shit. Illegitimate compromised ’news’ source imo. Why do people still use it when it’s been taken over?!

Stupid people overpopulation in Maine and Michigan, news at 11. Stop fucking your cousins, people.

As a kid growing up in Maine, we used to joke that it was the most inbred state north of the Mason-Dixon Line. At least, I think we were joking...
