Before the Voter ID law could you just turn up and pinky swear you can vote? Over here I can only vote with a valid ID card or passport, not even a driver's license. That accepted document list is a bit silly. Oyster card? :D

When you turn up to vote in the UK, they ask for your name and address and check that you are on the electoral role.
