The detailed sourcing directly attacks Sony's legal claim that a reasonable person wouldn't expect to own their digital purchases on the PlayStation Store.

Sony: No reasonable person would take all those times we explicitly said you own your purchased games to mean they explicitly own all of their purchased games

Literally everyone else: ...

Any reasonable person knows we are lying pieces of shit. The fact that you do business with us just shows you are stupid.

and the sad thing is... it's really getting to that point in life. advertising claims are just so normally bullshit. anything said by a company, a politician, or anything, is unreasonable to believe.

At this rate people will be pushing for no fault divorces after they are caught cheating because... my spouse should have known I didn't mean any of my vows, any reasonable person would have known I was a monster before the wedding.

Genuinely. It's getting to the point where the "reasonable" person is being claimed as a mind-reading super-lawyer who knows exactly when they're being lied to.

Rather than the actual average person who takes these companies at their word, assuming that they wouldn't just blatantly lie to their customers.

Which these companies seem to think makes their customers stupid, rather than them being manipulative pieces of shit that take advantage of people who just want to play some videogames in peace.

Ah- the Fox News approach

If we take for granted that Sony truly believed no "reasonable person" would expect to own digital purchases, then surely continuing to use terms like "purchase" and "own" despite this is an attempt to mislead people?

I don’t play games anymore, but if I do, I’ll go back to my teenage ways 🏴‍☠️
