ABC fumbled the reporting here. Shitting yourself during a race isn't uncommon, but apparently this isn't a race, it's a combination of crossfit-type exercises:

HYROX is a global fitness challenge in which participants race to complete often gruelling stations, including sandbag lunges, burpees, sled pushes and rowing.

Yeah you shouldn't be smearing your shit all over the shared equipment.
