How often do you worry about this?

Why not both?

mycodesucks@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 1d

Yeah. The binary is needlessly limiting.

pieberry@lemmy.today · 7 pts · 1d

There is both. When people are more afraid of embarrassment, they'll 'waste' their lives, never doing what they really want to do.

When people are more afraid of wasting their lives [than of being embarrassed], they'll actually live them, even though they may still feel embarrassment for being socially awkward, saying the 'wrong' thing, or whatever else their fears of embarrassment stem from.

I worry mostly about finding out where the post comes from. Would you be so kind to please add a link?

Also, images do not work for screen reader users.

Might have better luck messaging the OP. They won't respond to you, but they might (50/50 chance) grant your request for links and alt text for a while... then they'll eventually go back to not bothering to do any of that.

Source: I messaged them and asked them politely to credit the artist when they mass post owl art on c/superbowl. They did, for a little while, then reverted back to posting uncredited artworks.

I don't get it, why do mods not step in?

EDIT:

I mean, the rules literally include this:

  1. Your posts must include a text body. It doesn’t have to be long, it just needs to be descriptive.

If someone violates the rules again and again, then a mod could politely ask to stop before clicking a button to stop it.

Blackfeathr@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1d (2 replies)

Since OP has a history of not taking responsibility for their mistakes, I'm not sure why mods aren't doing more about this.

I'm just gonna report these under rule 3 from now on.

erebion@news.erebion.eu · 3 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Thanks, if I report it on my own instance I'm sending a report to myself (for some reason), so that's not helpful. :)

TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 1d

The report doesn't only go to you; reports go to three places:

  • The admin(s) of the reporter's instance (you in this case)
  • The admin(s) of the reported's instance
  • The moderator(s) of the community.

Yeah that seems like a dumb rule. What if someone wants to just post a meme because it's funny? You know what I think I'm going to remove it.

erebion@news.erebion.eu · 3 pts · 1d (1 reply)

No, alt text is not dumb. People might rely on screen readers.

Lexam@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 1d

Alt text is separate from the post body. The Alt text box appears when you upload an image.

It's a balance
