Open Source Printer coming before 2027

Open source printer with refillable ink, no bullshit, accept rolls of papers.

Finally an open source printer ! I dealt with so much stupidity with printers. it warm my heart.

I do have too much joy to practice mandatory critical thinking about the release of a new project. Lets talk about it? i am not the only one to be happy about it, i have no info about the price though :/

Im translating from french, but not seeing any expected dates, did I miss it? I'm very interested in the project, but the team seems to not be communicating to anyone anywhere after the initial announcement page.

Only says "coming soon"

We are getting closer to the official launch of our Crowd Supply campaign! Our team is currently in the final stretch, with beta testers, refining the software, and locking down our production logistics.

We are officially in the final preparation phase before the campaign goes live on Crowd Supply this Autumn. The next time you hear from us, we’ll be sharing the official launch date, roadmap, complete technical specifications, and final pricing details.

Sounds like in the next 3 months?

I hope so... I'll be in France over the winter, I sure hope I can snap one up in the time I'm there!

Yea, I don't see any firm dates about anything. They mention opening up on CrowdSupply this fall (just updated today).

I hope they're crazy successful.

I hope so too... I really want it to succeed, but my 'Bad Kickstarter' senses are tingling even though they haven't even asked for money yet.

This is so cool. I went to Brother printer long time ago and said goodbye to color printing, since got tired of all the stupid stuff around refills. So been doing black and white laser printing, but having color as an option again without the proprietary stuff would be nice.

Interesting that you can both use a paper roll and a sheet. Pretty compact as well for a printer!

How do drivers work?

kata1yst@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 12h

In the article linked:

Independent of operating systems

Equipped with an open source print server (CUPS), Open Printer works with Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS.

It handles all your printing, both locally and over the network, for a simple, flexible, and driver-free experience.
