How about reviewing the claims from so called professional representatives / antiunions who advise the government about skills shortages in certain industries?
During the mining down turns we had Engineers Australia publishing articles saying how there was a shortage of engineers. Yet there had just been massive job losses and many I knew were unable to find a job.
From what I've read the IT equivalent has successfully argued the same thing for the last 20 years. Can anyone in that sector confirm?
My guess is most industries are the same.
Feels like we have had skills shortages for 25 years, and yet it's not been solved by high levels of immigration since John Howard started that to reduce the power of unions.
