I think the pun about choosing a conversation piece is great. Is the ad saying not to choose the gimmicky ones that are inset, or are they different options?
We had the Mickey phone! It had no internals though. I'm not sure how my parents got it or where it ended up but you only rented phones back in that time. ATT took the internals out because it was no longer being paid for. I'll have to ask my dad the story of how/why they got to keep Mickey though.
