My mom refused to buy me a green machine because I’d hurt myself.

She also refused to buy me squirt guns that looked like real guns even if they were neon.

Can I sue for financial compensation?

I would contact Morgan & Morgan and get an extended warranty on your car ASAP!

My mom refused to buy me one because she wanted me to learn how to ride a bicycle instead, which lead me to absolutely adore riding bicycles.

Also I can't see how in the world you'd hurt yourself on one of these

Ride into traffic where cars can't see you. Also, cooties from all the 8,9,10 year old girls you drove crazy.

Oh wow I didn't even think of the line of sight issues, which would be even worse by how it's even worse on modern "cars".

My house was a "war toy free zone" which was cool because I had cool construction toys, but alas, no green machine.

My friend who had every GI Joe and a huge battlefield his dad built with a sick volcano is a heavy equipment operator.

I got science and computer toys and I talk to the customers so the engineers don’t have to.

Honestly I’d rather play with giant Tonkas

Not financial. Emotional damage.

Don't let your past dreams be just dreams. Find a green machine and ride it today!

That might actually be a good thing depending on where you grew up in the world. Some of these aren't neon, but I'm not sure if it would have helped

Yeah they were about that hard to ride until you got good at them, steep learning curve.

littletoolshed@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1d

Green machine spin-outs were elite level fun 💯

Alabama-Man!

Back when marketing wisdom taught us that alienating 50% of potential buyers (it's only for boys!) was the sure fire way to boost sales.

Still a cool toy, though.

The steering from the rear was wild.

My friend had a Green Machine, and my apartment building had a loooong driveway ramp, with a landing in the middle.

Good times were had!

Nobody knew what helmets were back then.

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 1d

Helmets? You mean hair?

littletoolshed@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 1d

I LOVED my green machine! Fucking amazing in 1978

perishthethought@piefed.social · 4 pts · 1d (2 replies)

Big Wheels were better.

zabadoh@ani.social · 8 pts · 1d

The Green Machine was aimed at slightly older kids.

It was bigger than a Big Wheel.

daychilde@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1d

That's the one I had :)

i was riding my banana-seat 2-wheeler by then, but i had a 'regular' one with the skid brake before that. probably around '74 or so.
