the actual sliced american cheese was awesome. better than deli american or the american cheese used by fast food and other restaurants on cheeseburgers.
the loafs of "cheese food" were more like an american cheese 'flavored' velveeta, but not as good (taste or to cook with). but it still worked for mac & cheese, grilled cheese, cheese dips, and in hotdishes and the like.
it used to be less-so; back when confirmations needed at least some support from the minority party to get confirmed, and nominations were more moderate as a result of that higher bar.
if she's already on the google or amazon ecosystems, one of their devices might be the best choice for her, as no new account anywhere would be needed for the device itself. they'd probably be the easiest for her to set up herself.
rokuchannel isn't available on every device, so if she wants to watch anything that's "only" on it (roku originals, or current exclusives), she'll need a roku or something that roku supports. same goes for apple, but apple tv is more widely available--at least for viewing what's already bought.
note: if you want a roku device but don't want to pony-up a payment method right away or for only 'free' viewing, try creating one using a browser at https://my.roku.com/signup/nocc
if you don't want to end up being her go-to tech support, then choose a retail product used as it was sold.. not an ordinary pc or device that's been rooted or has sideloaded apps.
i do recommend a "device" vs a "smart tv". the device replaces the "smarts" and are easier to replace and upgrade. that allows you to keep the tv off the internet completely and use it as a big, dumb screen.
i just make the settings changes i prefer. it doesn't take that long.. less than a minute to do that and the ui customizations and add the basic addons i also want for every installation.
yea a lot of them do report linux, if they report an os at all. however, in a survey of "desktop" visitors, one would expect visits determined to not be 'interactively human' to be omitted entirely from the counts.
putting osx and macos on separate lines was dumb af. the 'drop' of osx over the last ~ 18 months is entirely offset by the debut (and thus, an 'increase' from zero) of the name change to macos. it's a wash there.
linux gains are almost entirely windows' loss, but whether it's a legitimate trend or not will take time to determine.
ukraine needs to be free and at peace before the dipshit can get his tiny little shit-stained hands on anything. he won't even be in office when that does happen, and this 'deal' will no-doubt be negotiated at that time.
a Russian state corporation headquartered in Moscow that specializes in nuclear energy, nuclear non-energy goods and high-tech products.
they are actively working with russian military, involved directly in ukraine--with 'boots on the ground', even. they are absolutely 'fair game' for attack by ukrainian defenders.
the 3rd gen optiplex mt we have here all exhibit something similar.. you have to manually go into uefi settings and delete old or obsolete boot entries (due to reinstalls, swapping hdd, etc) otherwise the boot menu (f12) keeps listing every old one--by name. if you don't, you could end up with five "Debian" and three "Fedora", plus others, and not have a fucking clue which is the one that will actually boot.
"don't be evil" was a false promise. a gimmick. a marketing slogan. in practice, the policy was lost long before even the first pre-ipo options were promised to a new hire... way back around the time larry or sergey first day-dreamed of cashing-in 'some day'.
the gas wasted in traffic not going anywhere is gas that must be replaced, and the fuckwits will keep cheering as they pony-up for another $100 fill-up .

which offers the same ai hooks on windows, too.
turn it all off at about:preferences#ai and you can be much more confident that firefox will remember your preferences, unlike microsoft and edge.

and this is the magic search url to add:
lemmy is converting characters in that url.. the last characters should be: questionmark q equals percent s (no '25' mixed in there)
go to https://noai.duckduckgo.com/
right click inside the search box on that page.
add search engine.
optional: add a 'keyword' when adding the above, or change the browser's default to this newly-added search engine choice.
