I don't have that issue, I'm fat and people tend to not want to sit next to fat people... I wonder why? /S

If anyone here has ever been to a wedding in Indo (their first wedding) and what her side of the family would (I'm guessing) expect... let's just say from what I saw they expect a lot of flowers.
Send them an invoice - at wedding planner prices. Include an item for designing the wedding dress and making the wedding cake. Also an item for the days off work you've will have to take to get everything done. Sounds like they expect you to do everything but say the vows. This is beginning to look like fraternal abuse. Certainly it's thoughtless and not nearly enough time to organise everything.
In addition to the invoice suggested by Thornburywitch:
add a priority service fee equal to 150% of your daily pay, or $500 before tax (whichever is larger), for each day off you need to take.
add a priority delivery fee of $1.80 for each km you need to travel, including the flights. If no flights required, then charge $3.00 per km.
add a 20% (of item cost) item provisioning fee for each item you need to procure.
add a stress compensation fee of 50% on top of all that, including Thornburywitch's line items.
finally, put another 45% on top to give directly to the ATO.
As for the wedding itself, they probably also need to provision a few cows, pigs, and chickens to the parents, and some other gifts dedicated for the bride.

So since moving to Tassie I haven't made any real friends, but in a really weird coincidence someone who I knew because she dated a friend I played footy and cricket with (20 years ago) happened to move in to the same area as I did in Tassie not long before I moved here (5 years ago). We spoke off and on but after she found out about the break up, she invited me out to trivia night with some of her work friends. I am really really terrible socially, was super nervous, and almost bailed. But I sucked it up and went last night and actually had a really good time. I was actually social and talked to people instead of feeling like I didn't belong.
While I was having a nice relaxing bath the kids decided to join me in the bathroom. The oldest one decorated the littlest one to make him look "pretty" with butterfly clips.
I think nur ein wenig translates to just a little, whereas nur ein biรchen is a little bit....?. but that's remembering back to grade 11 German, so I'm probably wrong.

Started work pretty normally.. about an hour in, realised my throat was really dry and felt strange even though I'd been drinking water. Then I got really really tired. Told work I'm unavailable and slept from 10am until 5pm. I had to force myself to get out of bed so I wouldn't keep sleeping. I'm going to order something in I think because I should eat but don't have the energy to bother myself.
This being the day after I went back into the office for the first time since before my leave. Yikes.
Coles pre-made salad (the little square ones) heated up in the microwave - the packet of dressing really makes it yummy. And it knocks over 4 serves of veggies out of 5 for the day. Then one can have POTATOES as the 5th vegetable for dinner!
Rollercoaster day. Got an email this morning asking that I attend the office later this week to meet with the directors. No details provided on what the meeting is going to be about. An ex-colleague of mine recieved a similar meeting invitation earlier in the year where they got made redundant. So naturally I began to freak out, thinking I'm about to lose my job. I asked if I needed to prepare anything for the meeting and the response makes me think I'm not about to lose my job, but they're going to be raising something performance related. I'm pretty nervous because I have no idea what I'm going to be walking into. The response could just be throwing me off the scent. I feel sick.
I already want to leave, but better hurry up with finding that new job. Tonight I'm going to apply for a few roles and clear my work PC in case the worst happens.
I've just spend two hours on phone setup stuff. So many apps, so many accounts to sign in. I haven't even spent any time actually organising anything, just downloading and logging in.
still have the issue of the old vents, and also heating. The house is actually an older build (60's) and amazingly done to accommodate the environs. Not only proper insulation, but oriented correctly for the sun, window placement also factors in summer baking + blast shield shutters for radiant heat, so I think we might be ok.
We had a splitty in the old place, and ran it at a minimum of ~24c during summer anyway so we're not looking for arctic conditions. Guess it's gonna come down to quote prices - if too outrageous we might put a split in the bedroom and then kick the can down the road a bit.

Our house has evap upstairs, which does the job in general (plus a fan function) for bedrooms. Got a split in the living room which cools pretty much all of downstairs.
I'd love to have heating through the floor (or hydronic) but we make do.
single level here (albeit elevated) probs with the living room is that it has no easy access to an out door area for the other half (it's kinda centralised to a wraparound hallway with the bedrooms / dining off the hall). Nearest wall is north facing so noooooooooooooooope, definitely want the outside unit on the southern wall in the dank dark alleyway
Don't they have different vent sizes for air conditioning than just heating? Also if it's ancient the ducts are probably in bad condidion and would need to be replaced anyway.
The ducts are actually in amazing shape - they're proper metal ones, and have been well insulated. Someone went through not too long ago and did some work. The unit itself is still serviceable, but we want to get rid of the gas anyway. There's plenty of access - there's a damned house-wide basement down there - and if bigger air delivery is needed we know that's a probability. Weighing the pros and cons of retrofitting vs installing ceiling which would then run into my personal nightmare of wayyyy too many peopel I know who've had monkeys fuck their joists ramming aircon through the ceiling after the fact, plus then we would need to decomission and patch all the existing floor vents....

I know for me it's the latter but that comes from a position where cost of living, while putting a bit of pressure on me financially, isn't my biggest concern. I've lived frugally before and can do that but seeing my hours slip away while companies make big profits off of my work isn't fun.
On average, I'd guess it'd be 2 for most people who already got into the property market and are comfortable with what they have. 1 for people who are starting out/trying to buy things.
I'd rather the prices of things stopped getting insane so we didn't have to try to keep up with huge pay rises though, in general. I don't know how the world can turn this around and things can get better. All of the systems around the world are effectively just 'made up' so I feel like the world as a single unit could just decide to make it a better place for most at the expense of annoying those profiting most from the current system, but that's some John Lennon Imagine style daydreaming and I think the days of things being good for the masses is over and just going to get worse.
I would love for the highest paid in a company to have their wage proportional to the lowest wage (ie. 30x), enshrined in law, so there is still motive for increasing profit but it benefits everyone.
At the moment I'd go with increased pay. Not so much for cost of living pressures, but to put towards retirement which will give me a really good work/life balance by cutting out the work aspect entirely.

That whole life admin piece is the real kicker, huh? Especially when family is to be considered - whether it's older or younger family members, those that need that little bit of extra time (as in, anyone that isn't fully independent) really does end up chewing into the other time you would use to do things like, you know, live life. That's what I don't understand about a lot of the debates going on around the world where the birthrate is dropping - people don't feel they have the adequate time to raise a family. Couple it with the other side of the sandwich where you also have to help out older family members who aren't nearly as independent as they were when we were younger, and suddenly you're caught in the middle.
Same here although Iโd love it if the profits made by the company were evenly distributed downwards to all of us, especially us at the bottom of the ladder.
Increase in pay. I mean I'd love to be able to work 4 days a week, but I think money is my main issue. The only thing work/life balance would achieve is I'm not spending an extra $20 to go to and from work.
At this point I'm going with 2 because of burnout and I've long since given up on the idea of buying property - my time and sanity is more important atm. As long as I can cover my basic expenses I'm fine. For me, part of cost of living pressures come from discretionary expenses borne out of the stress of FT work; in some way I can save money doing PT hours by accessing cheaper and more sustainable improvements in well being.
It's a fine balance though. Depends a lot on the actual $ offered and the nature of the job

Exercises completed after spending time today setting up a new non Gmail account and securing my financials, changing my contact details here and there. I've probably overreacted but I'd rather err on that side than not doing enough, and it's my first time with a breach or hack of any kind. I've finally got my short term one for this project I'm meant to do, but it's both incredibly vague about my responsibilities as well as incredibly broad about IP created in my own time (anything that "relates" to the business?? what does that mean exactly?)
I'm wondering whether it's worth it since they are a small business that probably won't have the resources to really lawyer up and fight (and would ruin their reputation in the process if they really did). But they have been really hard to trust lately. It just doesn't sit right with me.
Trust your gut feel. This doesn't sound right at all. For a short term contract, you need to know that they have thought out exactly what they expect from you in the time available. And it doesn't seem that this has happened.
I'm especially sus about how they might define whether what I create during the period of employment, in my own personal time, on my own hardware/software, is relevant to the business operations and therefore they can lay claim on it. When my tasks are so vague.
I get that IP clauses are not uncommon (although not present in my previous contracts!) - but the way they've worded this really grinds my gears because (a) they rely extensively on open source software and have never spent a red cent contributing to it, and (b) a good part of the solutions I've come up with for the business have been based off publicly available code and answers on stackexchange, github and the like - from people helping each other out on their own time (Much of that extra research being shit I've learned on my own time as well)
Now they want to turn around and potentially stop me from giving back to those same communities? Grrr.
I agree with Bacon - lotsa red flags flapping here. A lawyer sounds like a worthwhile investment. If only to clarify exactly what the contract is specifying. There are directories for finding a suitable lawyer, and the Law Institute of Victoria is one of the better ones.
Thank you both. After running it past a few friends and family members they agree it's worth getting it looked at professionally. I'd be prepared to just walk away now if it weren't for the fact that I'd like to help my colleagues, but if the contract is sus and there's too much involved to get it ironed out then I'll walk anyway.
I think the question is more of it's worth the money for a lawyer. You'll probably pay $400 at least. If this contract ain't worth the expense of the review it might be worth proposing an alteration yourself.
I might just start with suggesting alterations but I suspect I might not get a straight answer out of our hideously incompetent business mgr (this contract was sent through as late as possible!) I feel like I'd benefit from professional opinion just do a once over and say 'eh this is OK with a few tweaks' vs 'this needs major changes', to back up my position (or help me decide to just bail).
$400 is definitely going to sting, but I don't want this to impact what I want to do after I leave... Maybe I should just look for another job.

It looks pretty good, just going through setup now. Once upon a time mobile phones were giant bricks and we would marvel when each successively smaller model came out. Then we started adding in lots of new functions and they are getting bigger and bigger again.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Reconditioned, but looks perfect and is working fine (for a lot less). It was the cheapest one I could get which included the S pen which I've found from the tablet is really useful for some of the things I do.

You could ask your gym to pause your membership for a while (I think most gyms allow you to freeze your membership) and you could get a supporting note from your GP if possible too?

Started work pretty normally.. about an hour in, realised my throat was really dry and felt strange even though I'd been drinking water. Then I got really really tired. Told work I'm unavailable and slept from 10am until 5pm. I had to force myself to get out of bed so I wouldn't keep sleeping. I'm going to order something in I think because I should eat but don't have the energy to bother myself.
This being the day after I went back into the office for the first time since before my leave. Yikes.

Rollercoaster day. Got an email this morning asking that I attend the office later this week to meet with the directors. No details provided on what the meeting is going to be about. An ex-colleague of mine recieved a similar meeting invitation earlier in the year where they got made redundant. So naturally I began to freak out, thinking I'm about to lose my job. I asked if I needed to prepare anything for the meeting and the response makes me think I'm not about to lose my job, but they're going to be raising something performance related. I'm pretty nervous because I have no idea what I'm going to be walking into. The response could just be throwing me off the scent. I feel sick.
I already want to leave, but better hurry up with finding that new job. Tonight I'm going to apply for a few roles and clear my work PC in case the worst happens.

still have the issue of the old vents, and also heating. The house is actually an older build (60's) and amazingly done to accommodate the environs. Not only proper insulation, but oriented correctly for the sun, window placement also factors in summer baking + blast shield shutters for radiant heat, so I think we might be ok.
We had a splitty in the old place, and ran it at a minimum of ~24c during summer anyway so we're not looking for arctic conditions. Guess it's gonna come down to quote prices - if too outrageous we might put a split in the bedroom and then kick the can down the road a bit.

Our house has evap upstairs, which does the job in general (plus a fan function) for bedrooms. Got a split in the living room which cools pretty much all of downstairs.
I'd love to have heating through the floor (or hydronic) but we make do.

single level here (albeit elevated) probs with the living room is that it has no easy access to an out door area for the other half (it's kinda centralised to a wraparound hallway with the bedrooms / dining off the hall). Nearest wall is north facing so noooooooooooooooope, definitely want the outside unit on the southern wall in the dank dark alleyway

Don't they have different vent sizes for air conditioning than just heating? Also if it's ancient the ducts are probably in bad condidion and would need to be replaced anyway.

The ducts are actually in amazing shape - they're proper metal ones, and have been well insulated. Someone went through not too long ago and did some work. The unit itself is still serviceable, but we want to get rid of the gas anyway. There's plenty of access - there's a damned house-wide basement down there - and if bigger air delivery is needed we know that's a probability. Weighing the pros and cons of retrofitting vs installing ceiling which would then run into my personal nightmare of wayyyy too many peopel I know who've had monkeys fuck their joists ramming aircon through the ceiling after the fact, plus then we would need to decomission and patch all the existing floor vents....

If you had the choice, what would you go for:
I know for me it's the latter but that comes from a position where cost of living, while putting a bit of pressure on me financially, isn't my biggest concern. I've lived frugally before and can do that but seeing my hours slip away while companies make big profits off of my work isn't fun.

On average, I'd guess it'd be 2 for most people who already got into the property market and are comfortable with what they have. 1 for people who are starting out/trying to buy things.
I'd rather the prices of things stopped getting insane so we didn't have to try to keep up with huge pay rises though, in general. I don't know how the world can turn this around and things can get better. All of the systems around the world are effectively just 'made up' so I feel like the world as a single unit could just decide to make it a better place for most at the expense of annoying those profiting most from the current system, but that's some John Lennon Imagine style daydreaming and I think the days of things being good for the masses is over and just going to get worse.
Yay now I'm sad.

I would love for the highest paid in a company to have their wage proportional to the lowest wage (ie. 30x), enshrined in law, so there is still motive for increasing profit but it benefits everyone.

That whole life admin piece is the real kicker, huh? Especially when family is to be considered - whether it's older or younger family members, those that need that little bit of extra time (as in, anyone that isn't fully independent) really does end up chewing into the other time you would use to do things like, you know, live life. That's what I don't understand about a lot of the debates going on around the world where the birthrate is dropping - people don't feel they have the adequate time to raise a family. Couple it with the other side of the sandwich where you also have to help out older family members who aren't nearly as independent as they were when we were younger, and suddenly you're caught in the middle.

At this point I'm going with 2 because of burnout and I've long since given up on the idea of buying property - my time and sanity is more important atm. As long as I can cover my basic expenses I'm fine. For me, part of cost of living pressures come from discretionary expenses borne out of the stress of FT work; in some way I can save money doing PT hours by accessing cheaper and more sustainable improvements in well being.
It's a fine balance though. Depends a lot on the actual $ offered and the nature of the job

Exercises completed after spending time today setting up a new non Gmail account and securing my financials, changing my contact details here and there. I've probably overreacted but I'd rather err on that side than not doing enough, and it's my first time with a breach or hack of any kind. ...Have any of you gotten an employment lawyer to run through a contract before signing? I've finally got my short term one for this project I'm meant to do, but it's both incredibly vague about my responsibilities as well as incredibly broad about IP created in my own time (anything that "relates" to the business?? what does that mean exactly?)
I'm wondering whether it's worth it since they are a small business that probably won't have the resources to really lawyer up and fight (and would ruin their reputation in the process if they really did). But they have been really hard to trust lately. It just doesn't sit right with me.

Trust your gut feel. This doesn't sound right at all. For a short term contract, you need to know that they have thought out exactly what they expect from you in the time available. And it doesn't seem that this has happened.

I'm especially sus about how they might define whether what I create during the period of employment, in my own personal time, on my own hardware/software, is relevant to the business operations and therefore they can lay claim on it. When my tasks are so vague.
I get that IP clauses are not uncommon (although not present in my previous contracts!) - but the way they've worded this really grinds my gears because (a) they rely extensively on open source software and have never spent a red cent contributing to it, and (b) a good part of the solutions I've come up with for the business have been based off publicly available code and answers on stackexchange, github and the like - from people helping each other out on their own time (Much of that extra research being shit I've learned on my own time as well)
Now they want to turn around and potentially stop me from giving back to those same communities? Grrr.

I agree with Bacon - lotsa red flags flapping here. A lawyer sounds like a worthwhile investment. If only to clarify exactly what the contract is specifying. There are directories for finding a suitable lawyer, and the Law Institute of Victoria is one of the better ones.

I'd be prepared to just walk away now if it weren't for the fact that I'd like to help my colleagues, but if the contract is sus and there's too much involved to get it ironed out then I'll walk anyway.

I might just start with suggesting alterations but I suspect I might not get a straight answer out of our hideously incompetent business mgr (this contract was sent through as late as possible!) I feel like I'd benefit from professional opinion just do a once over and say 'eh this is OK with a few tweaks' vs 'this needs major changes', to back up my position (or help me decide to just bail).
$400 is definitely going to sting, but I don't want this to impact what I want to do after I leave... Maybe I should just look for another job.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Reconditioned, but looks perfect and is working fine (for a lot less). It was the cheapest one I could get which included the S pen which I've found from the tablet is really useful for some of the things I do.

See what the council gym option are. My local council one is amazing, about $24 a week with access to classes, 24hr gym, indoor and outdoor pool, spa and sauna.

When our fluffy vocal one is being chatty, yells at the door begging to go outside, or is being excited to see me come home, the others sometimes come around to investigate then carry on sleeping
If he's the first one that sees vegetables or raw meat in my hands, he would beg for it, this time the other two would drop what they're doing and join him begging, even if I immediately hide said food before the other two could see it.

The Oblivion remake is what annoys the hell out of me... been wanting that for ages and they finally do it only to cut Sony out. How Microsoft were able to get away with that acquisition is beyond me.

I dont think they've said its NOT coming to PS5, right? The only exclusive so far was Starfield, but that was only after Sony tried to get it as an exclusive themselves, so I dont feel sorry for them. 95% of folks are gonna play on PC anyway to mod the shit out of, right?
I also think the intention was to have the cloud stuff working a lot better so that you didnt HAVE to have an xbox, just games pass and a HDMI dongle thing, but clearly that never happened.
