I just searched Costco website and no 27 lb bucket found. I feel betrayed.

All the news article are like 5 years old. It’s long gone

cone_zombie@lemmy.world · 49 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Joke's on you, I'm still eating mine

jeffw@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 2y (2 replies)

The news article said it had a decades-long shelf life… which is disturbing

frezik@midwest.social · 9 pts · 2y

It's just dry pasta and cheese-like powder. Yeah, that "cheese" is a lie, but the pasta will naturally be fine for that time period.

$200 for 240 servings. That isn't even a good deal. A box of Kraft is a buck and contains 2.5 servings per box.

If you buy this bucket, it'll cost you approx 83¢ per serving. Kraft is 40¢ per serving. So if you want an assload of mac and cheese, it's more economical to just buy 96 boxes of Kraft instead and save yourself $144.

eerongal@ttrpg.network · 25 pts · 2y

You cant go by "serving sizes" to compare things like that, because serving sizes are fairly arbitrary and can are likely measured differently between products. You'd have to compare by net weight.

This lists the net weight as 27.1 pounds, or about 433 ozs. A box of kraft is 7.5 oz net weight, or in other words it's almost 58 total boxes of craft Mac and cheese. Which makes things way more in Kraft's favor.

flerp@lemm.ee · 10 pts · 2y

I think you made a mistype there. A box of KD contains exactly one serving. No more, no less, and I refuse to countenance any further discussion on the matter, thank you sir, madam, or else-wise!

Psythik@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y

Also I didn't factor in the fact that Kraft requires butter, while this stuff might not. Even then, I'm still confident that this bucket is a bad deal.

beefcat@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

it looks like the cheese in here is already in sauce form, so you do not need to provide milk and butter like with the kraft option. it’s also why this weighs 27 lbs.

ahto@feddit.de · 1 pts · 2y

It says that 3 servings have 660 calories. So if you want to make an actual meal out of this, you need at least 3 servings. That makes it even less of a good deal.

Sorry but I feel that one on the left a little too much.

Not going to lie, I want to buy this for the novelty just once.

Selmafudd@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Why stop with just one bucket? I reckon 12-15 should fill a bathtub

SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 2y

Hire a couple strippers and have them wrestle in a kiddie pool filled with Costco mac and cheese.

Krudler@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Buy a pail from a mom-and-pop burger shop and print your own label.

Fuck, I can't imagine what a hilarious conversation piece that would be lol... actually think I'm going to do something like this just to make my friends guffaw

Delphia@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

I'm actually thinking it would be an amazing addition to the work Xmas party.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Dude if we're doing that I might as well just reuse my old kitty litter buckets

For when you're tired of being regular and would like a break from all the pooping.

Powdered cheese or gooey cheese?

BlueLineBae@midwest.social · 9 pts · 2y (3 replies)

I'm not big into Mac and cheese on account of the lactose intolerance. But I discovered that my version of this bucket is a 2 gallon bucket of lingon berry jam that's sold on Amazon.

GBU_28@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y

Oh shit

Tangent5280@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

how long does it last you?

BlueLineBae@midwest.social · 3 pts · 2y

Depends on how often I make crepes. I usually split it into smaller containers and freeze it so it lasts me about a year.

I mean why not? You buy like a sack of rice that you scoop from, why can't you buy a bucket of macaroni to scoop from?

SecretSauces@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I figure trying to fish out the macaroni from the cheese pool would start getting a little difficult mid-way through

The_Hideous_Orgalorg@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 2y (1 reply)

This doesn't appear to be ready to eat directly from the bucket. The bucket is just a very large box for the pasta and packs of cheese powder.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Well then why the fuck would I get a bucket of food

Smacks@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

I saw this on Amazon but they aren't selling it anymore

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

I definitely would.

Finally the round meal has a competitor. But men does this bucket serve?

burntbutterbiscuits@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 2y

You’ve got to go for it and leave an honest product review…. All of you! So we can have an unbiased sample or something

marx2k@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

And here I'm like that would be a great initial fermentation bucket for beer
