Quite strange when you know the scene.

fastandcurious@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 2y (20 replies)

What happened in the scene? I know i am uncultured AF

I believe this is right after psychotic mommy issues superman murders a protestor with his Lazer vision and is surprised to be cheered for it by his supporters.

I believe this is right after psychotic mommie issues superman murders a protestor with his Lazer vision and is surprised to be cheered for it by his supporters.

Huh. What show is it?

IndiBrony@lemmy.world · 48 pts · 2y (5 replies)

The Boys. The show is basically "what if we had superheroes who are assholes controlled by a huge PR corporation?". Give it a shot! It's an Amazon Prime original.

UnRelatedBurner@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Amazon Prime original

or any pirate streaming site's free content, next to all Netflix, Apple and Adult Swim's originals. 🏴‍☠️

11181514@lemm.ee · 19 pts · 2y

That literally doesn't change the fact that it's an Amazon prime original. Which is what they said and you misquoted.

tbh, I'm just mad about it all. Still, points taken, should just stfu.

MasterNerd@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 2y

I will never get over the irony of it being produced by Amazon

irmoz@reddthat.com · 1 pts · 2y

...what? How?

I took the comment to mean they regret knowing what it is.

"The Boys". Streams on Amazon Prime

Touching_Grass@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Was this after he had his possible super mommies charred Nazi remains give him a hand job

imaBEES@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

Yes, this is basically the ending of the most recent season

DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe · 9 pts · 2y

You really need to watch it to get the full impact, but this is the moment Super Fascist realizes quite a lot of people suck hard enough to support him.

GBU_28@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y

Wait you posted a meme image for content you haven't watched / aren't familiar with?

Hah wow

LillyPip@lemmy.ca · 46 pts · 2y (5 replies)

I’m very conflicted about whether to upvote this, because Homelander.

mashbooq@lemmy.world · 28 pts · 2y

Yeah, I read the good message, but then saw Homelander and thought, "makes fascists happy?"

starman2112@sh.itjust.works · 16 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I remember hearing that his actor got arrested a while back, and was afraid he'd done something horrendous, but it turned out he just got in a bar fight

Which if anything makes me like his portrayal of Homelander even more

DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Well he got in a fight for being a prick, but that might be why he does such a good job?

starman2112@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 2y

Yeah, I mean he's definitely a prick, but I'm okay with my money going to pricks if they make an entertaining show

ElPussyKangaroo@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

Memes can be taken at face value when deemed convenient. Enjoy.

Wage_slave@lemmy.ml · 29 pts · 2y (13 replies)

On other sites, I've been corrected. And I've been corrected a bunch of times here, too.

The difference being here I learned something and it's cool.....

and say over at reddit being corrected on something that you're not only correct about, but called an asshole for it as well.

It's been a really nice change of pace. Thank you, inhabitants of Lemmy.

Unless it's windows...... never admit you're a windows user.... ever... /s

Mr_Blott@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 2y

I have tremendous fun posting "Have you tried Windows?" on the Linux communities whenever someone posts a problem

It's exactly what they do a dozen times over on any queries about Windows problems, but strangely they don't find my answer helpful

lolcatnip@reddthat.com · 5 pts · 2y

Also don't admit you use anything else made/owned by Microsoft. Or Google, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, or—God forbid—Reddit.

AceCephalon@pawb.social · 4 pts · 2y

Yep, that actual chance at learning something instead of being blindly insulted anyway is such a refreshing change.

And especially never admit you're totally not running Windows on a Protogen because you couldn't be bothered to modify it.

"phobic comments"

Ok bro. I'm dumbphobic and triggered by this pessimistic and super over-generalized hot take.

This is offensively exceptionalist.

Mr_Blott@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Oh god I'm going to have to sit down and figure out how I can be offended by this comment, hold on

Good job erasing everyone you don't like !

I just wish we could oppress Georgists and incels off Lemmy as effectively. Also plumbers, I can't stand those people.

evranch@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Always nice to meet another electrician on Lemmy!

Though we would consider that a pretty moderate position around here, as we often question whether plumbers even count as people.

It's not called a monkey wrench for nothing !

MuhammadJesusGaySex@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (7 replies)

I did try Linux. I even took a college course and learned enough to pass. But I have a super shitty memory and it was redhat back in the late 90s so ALL THOSE COMMANDS. Jumping Jesus Christ on a pogo stick. I mean Linux had a gui but it was useless. So, instead I’m bashing away at my head with the little animal books, and for what? You couldn’t play games on it. Basically Linux was soooo painfully unenjoyable last time I used it I haven’t touched it since.

7of9@startrek.website · 4 pts · 2y (6 replies)

A suitable metaphor for this would be saying that you didn't enjoy having to start a Model T Ford with a hand crank so you've refused to drive a car ever since. Reminds my of my Grandfather.

MuhammadJesusGaySex@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Nah, I should probably try it again for real. I’m sure it has come a long way in almost 25 years. I just haven’t had the time of im being serious.

7of9@startrek.website · 1 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Well, last time I installed it it was easier than Windows. I put it on my Dad's computer and it just works with his printer etc.

MuhammadJesusGaySex@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I’ll give it another shot. What distribution would you suggest for someone just starting out? I know that’s a polarizing question.

7of9@startrek.website · 1 pts · 2y

Can't go wrong with Linux Mint. It works pretty much like Windows so there's little relearning needed.

Honytawk@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 2y

More like they bought a Model T Ford, and didn't like the build quality.

So they reckon that isn't improved in the new models compared to other manufacturers. Especially if they didn't trust the management behind the company.

Which is a fair opinion to have.

Just because it improved doesn't mean it improved in the areas you had problems with.

Guys I'm really scared of falling into a volcano. I don't care what the libs say, we shouldn't tolerate active volcanoes in our cities! It's against God's will!
