Solar panels on the outside, crops on the inside. I understand your doubts but you should also consider that with vertical farming you need much less pesticides, which is a plus for the environment. It's also robust against heat waves and storms. In general, it's a reliable food source, much more so than traditional farming these days.
To add to that, the wiki also makes it pretty clear users should be careful. It's nice to have for packages that aren't in the main repos, so it makes sense to have it somewhat part of the distro, but it does take manual effort to install aur packages, so in my mind, that's the best way to do it.
I bought one at launch (not OLED though), it's still going strong. They made a really solid device and if anything breaks (which hasn't happened yet), it's easy to replace. I used GeForce now for the first time this month and it was really smooth and it's great the console doesn't heat up with it.

I'd argue not having to burn your fuel is already a great improvement
