Yes, that's unfortunately true. I was hoping that people with the integrity and intelligence to leave reddit would be overall superior in various ways, but that hasn't been my experience.
I was hoping/thinking there would be more people like Luis Rossmann here, but when you look at the front page, it's just as full of low-quality content (memes, screenshots of social media) as Reddit. And I've experienced the same unintelligent behaviors (votes, comments, etc.) here as on reddit.
It makes me wonder where all the intelligent people are. Are they really this rare? They can't have abandoned the internet altogether, could they?

This is such a bizarre thing to say. Reddit and Lemmy are link/news aggregators. Their whole benefit is being a single site where people can share & discuss news, instead of having to visit a dozen different websites every day. Reddit started to promote low-quality meme content, which massively degraded the quality of the platform. It's extremely disappointing to see people on Lemmy promoting it as well.
