@tezoatlipoca@mas.to it's a LOT, but basically he's a former QA at blizzard that left to "develop his own game". His dad was the cinematic director for blizzard for 30+ years. Any kind of amazing cinematic you saw from blizzard from like 1992-2020 was done by his dad.
All of that kinda made him famous and he's been doing lots of sus things recently.
The first was in a highly public WoW streaming group where he "roached out" when his group was having issues with a boss.
Instead of apologizing to everyone that lost their characters, he quadrupled down and quit playing wow.
Now recently, there's been an EU initiative called Stop killing games, which basically says that devs should have an end of life plan for online games that eventually get the servers shut down because of low player count. If they were required to release server files so players could continue to run the games themselves once the company can no longer do it.
PirateSoftware, a game "dev", very vehemently denounced the initiative as HORRIBLE and it could "eat his entire ass" and has quadrupled down on that as well.
Therefore, people started deep diving into his background and found out that basically he's a narcissistic liar. He wasnt a game dev at blizzard like he previously claimed. In fact, he's self taught and his code is VERY bad.
Those revelations along with continuing to throw hate at the initiative has caused the initiative to gain the amount of signatures it needed to move forward, along with millions of people hating on this dude for his behavior.
Well deserved.
This doesn't do it all justice, I suggest watching a YouTube video into the drama. Just search "Stop Killing Games PirateSoftware drama"
@Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com well it definitely should stop using everyone's Mastodon posts as topics if I can't even go there to see if my replies are propagating correctly.π€¦ββοΈ
@toothpaste_sandwich@mastodon.nl It's either Lemmy instance or a Mbin instance. They're similar softwares that serve the same purpose but with different features. Mbin is a fork of the defunct Kbin.
I don't know which it is, but it's one of those, not its own thing.
@wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com I'm in this fresh hell of Louisiana.π«
I haven't done direct downloads since like 2010 and back then, it had to be broken up into 56,832 parts, each with a different link to download and I ain't about to go back to that if that's still how it is.π
I might need a crash course in direct download piracy in 2025 if things are better now.π€
@Banur@metalhead.club Oh okay. I'm about 7-8 and using some crap gear I found. I think I'll over-level a bit and see if the level scaling doesn't hit me too hard.
@bezekium@nrw.social well...that's kinda why I asked to talk to ESO peeps. Because I hadn't actually started playing yet and wanted to know all the differences in the updates, but from what I understand, the content hasn't dropped yet.
@ppb1701@ppb.social facts. The worst part is, I wouldn't even engage with that mode of the game if I didn't get the VC with the super duper "sign away your first born" edition, but since I paid for it, I definitely ain't about to forget it. Especially since a lot of the unlockables are locked behind that mode.ππ€¦ββοΈ
@the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world narcissists can be convincing to some people. It's wild.π€¦ββοΈ
@PCGaming@fedia.io
@tezoatlipoca@mas.to no problem. Enjoy!π
@capuccino@lemmy.world yes, it's "the joke".π€·ββοΈ

@Banur@metalhead.club Haha. That's okay. I'm sure certain things like that haven't been changed, even in the remaster.

Thanks for the info.ππ
@shawn1122@lemm.ee Yeah...the relationship angle is the part that's getting to me.
It feels too cliche and typical "love can conquer anything" crap.
@bezekium@nrw.social well...that's kinda why I asked to talk to ESO peeps. Because I hadn't actually started playing yet and wanted to know all the differences in the updates, but from what I understand, the content hasn't dropped yet.
@PineRune@lemmy.world it's a decently good MMO nowadays and I have stints of a few months at a time. This will be one of those times.π
@Zikeji@programming.dev I agree. I casually enjoy roguelites as well but they're usually very difficult and I get frustrated easily
