I agree with the sentiment, I really do. However, do yall have kids? Remembering their friend's birthdays and knowing their bizarrely inconsistent schedule is not what they are talking about in the car. Fortnight, bike rides, complaints about tests? All of that - absolutely. The after school science fair? LoTR day at the library? Basketball Practice meets at 6:00 tonight instead of 7:30 because the coaches other kid has a karate exhibition? Exactly none of is coming up.
Yes? My admittedly limited understanding says yes anyway. If Congress budgets $100m for cancer research, then all $100m needs to go to cancer research. But, the executive branch gets some freedom to decide what qualifies as cancer research. Cancer cures? Enhanced treatment? Earlier detection? Prevention? Environmental factors?
I do research into human computer interaction, and I know exactly how I'd hitch my wagon onto this. My research improves the usability of machines used in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. BAM! Now my research into virtual buttons qualifies as cancer research.
Now, I would never do that scenario IRL because I have a conscious, but I know how the games like this are played when it comes time to apply for obscure grants that need to go to someone.
Yeah, most things that check for CSM content compare it with fuzzy hashes of known CSM content. Source: I teach cybersecurity classes and frequently have guest speakers from 3-letter agencies.
Something I've noticed is that, generally speaking, the fediverse doesn't seem to be very hateful. Rude, sure, but rarely badness for sufferings sake. Without the constant pressure to be hateful, it is hard for grudges to take hold. I think a big reason is that the demographics on here appear to lean older than most other social media. Again, speaking generally, individual user behavior and experience may vary.
I'm rocking a phone from Sony right now, after a decade with Samsung Galaxy devices. I bought it specifically for the microSD card and for a headphone jack.
I'll second this treatment. This in combination with conventional medication, therapy, and making active choices in my life to improve my minute to minute experience. You know that stuff that mildly annoys you, but doesn't bother you enough to actually fix? Fix it ASAP, those experiences built up in me like poison, and I don't think that I'm that different from the average person. Regardless, weed and hiking was definitely the foundation.
In some sense yeah, I've heard from some of my more affluent friends buying multiple copies for different platforms. For example, I know someone with at least 4 different copies of GTA-V
I have to pass through at least 3 to leave my neighborhood. I hate it. I want to cut them down or otherwise destroy them, but I have absolutely no clue how to do it without getting caught and landing myself in jail. I've tried to look up a tutorial or guide on tor, but it really is just entirely drug trafficking and honey pots on there.
Do you have a dumb TV to recommend? I went searching online a few years ago and literally couldn't find anything other than giant digital screens used to show the menu at fast food restaurants.
I felt that. I thought I had some ADHD tendencies like every one has. The people making ADHD content online are describing generic everyday experiences that everyone has. Just pandering bull shit to make people feel unique from everyone else. But I didn't need some diagnosis - I just had some tendencies like everyone!
And then I started therapy for some PTSD and depression symptoms following hurricane Helene. The therapist clued in pretty quickly to other issues in my life. This eventually led to my seeing a psychologist. I started talking to him and it took a medical doctor telling me that I was not processing the world normally to even suspect that I may actually have ADHD. I wasn't totally convinced though. So, I started to talk to my friends about how they spend their time, how they engage with their hobbies, what do they really mean when they say something went by quickly or that something took forever. What were they actually doing when they said that they did some task for hours. Turns out, we were certainly not on the same wavelength about things. I started meditation a week ago and the results are game changing.
Work? Easier. Mood? Happier. House? Cleaner.
My 10 year old son commented that I was nicer than normal. He was excited that I was able to sit with him and watch him show me something in a videogame. Normally, I can only stand that for maybe 30 seconds to 60 seconds. The other day, I probably watched him play dead cells for 20 minutes! It was great bonding time.
So, if you find this stuff relatable, there maybe a reason beyond common platitudes of the human experience. Talk to a doctor and see if there may be something to it.
This is the album that introduced me to the black keys. A cashier at my local gas station gave me a bootleg CD and told me to check it out. Back in the before times when your algorithm was an overnight gas station cashier with an eclectic taste in music and a disc burner.
OMG! You are right, he did. How did I miss that? I may go out for drinks later. From my POV, two very evil people who made life substantially harder for many of my friends died today.
Personally, I'd be very against medical records. Some folks have diseases and disorders which are grossly misunderstood by the public at large, and even civil servants deserve to return to a normal life after they leave office.
Lateral numbers is my preferred term

My vote is good old fashioned whackaloons.

He never said that he recovered from the experience :(
Yup! Fedora for everything, and everything else for the lolz.

I don't think anyone here is arguing. This is just what a complex conversation looks like.

I know a lot of people are hoping for Kissenger, and admittedly for good reasons, but I have a personal hang up with Roger Stone.
