I talked about that with my players in session 0 and they would rather have consequences and a challenge instead.
So far we had 2 PC deaths in 3 years of pathfinder 1e but many close calls. If I were to TPK them fair and square (either because of unfortunate crits on my part or them getting cocky or just plain old messing up) I would do so. I have 0 interest in pulling some “37 red dragons appear, roll for initiative” bullshit but when, like last session, they choose(!) not to heal between encounters and then continue exploring heads might roll.
I don’t intend to TPK them but if it happened we would have a conversation about how to continue, probably either with a new party or an epilogue.
To be fair, if the party can’t handle the heat they should get out of the kitchen.
Assuming this is either dnd or pathfinder, if by the time a rando cultist can cast fireball, 6-30 (and half of a save) damage kills your whole party you really shouldn’t be in meele :D
I used to volunteer for a German rescue organisation (think firefighters but for other use cases) and a common joke was “when you finish your deployment and you can only retrieve either personnel or equipment, what do you choose? Equipment, because personnel grows back after 18 years, equipment after 30”.
So yeah, we can relate to getting shitty equipment…
Germany: I think overall, compared to the rest of the world, it’s fine. As a German citizen you are well protected from most of the bullshit life can throw your way: We have strong legal systems, “free” healthcare and are relatively safe from the effects of climate change and military aggression.
But it’s also very frustrating because it could be so much better. Were the 3rd richest country in the world and yet our infrastructure is barely holding on. Bridges are collapsing and roads have giant potholes. Our train system is expensive and unreliable.
Our politicians are actively working against the interest of the german people and funnel money into companies instead. Corruption and malice against migrants is everywhere. Active climate change denial is also apparently acceptable. If you aren’t a retired homeowner who loves their car you aren’t relevant to the political conversation.
Yes your doctor is “free”, but you barely get a sentence in before youre send home with some generic advice or stopgap medicine and good luck getting to see a specialist. I pay over 400€ a month in taxes for this, I should be able to at least get more than a couple of minutes when I have some issues. Also teeth are luxury bones which are barely covered and glasses aren’t medically necessary either so have fun paying for those.
You probably won’t be able to afford a house ever and you need to save money for retirement. For context: I’m in my early 30s, got a masters degree, working on a phd and get paid enough that I’m in the highest tax group. My father could support my mother and 3 children with that income while still living comfortably. I pay like half my net salary in rent for a 2 room apartment, and retirement savings and don’t want to even think about paying for childcare.
I’m pissed this is the best my country is capable off. Not to mention literal fucking nazis are on the rise again and are probably going to start winning elections soon.
Well, from a theoretical standpoint your employer “buys” both your work time AND the non work time in which you are supposed to rest and recover so you can work again the next day. But because we live in a hypercapitalist hellscape non work time is seen as lazyness and not as a requirement for productivity.
I’ve recently rented an AirnBnB with 6 other People and at 21:26 the owner knocked and complained about noise. At that time we were playing cards and just enjoying each other’s company. The next day they wanted to kick us out because “partys” were not permitted. In no way other than drinking like 2 beers each we were having anything close to a party. I don’t know what they expected when they decided to offer a room for 8 Adults, but apparently they only welcome monks with a vow of silence.
Im not an economist, but that would probably just lead to massive global inflation which would probably either lead to trade wars or actual wars until some semblance of the status quo would be restored.
Sadly capitalism will always lead to exploitation.
I’m German and my YouTube shorts feed has both English and German Videos. Still sometimes it auto translates German Videos into English without asking me if I wanted that feature.
I don’t get it - the algorithm should see that I view videos in both languages and still it sometimes auto translates videos from my native language to English.
Wow, you guys are actually giving really good and useful advice.
I was about to comment “When one of my players asks whether they can do something completely unreasonable I look at them, roll a D20 openly on the table and without checking the result, say ‘no’”

Alright, sure buddy. I’ll tell my players that they aren’t actually having fun.
Well, you do you.

Yeah, us being hardstuck in the 1980s is apparently still being better than other countries returning to the 1930s…

“Lappen” is also used as a fun but not overly offensive insult. Mainly for guys who act tough but really aren’t.
Probably already illegally detained and shipped off to a torture prison in one of americas vassal states
Where’s the inevitable desk reject after months of work?

But now I just feel bad :D
It’s “ich im echten Leben”, which is a literal translation of “me in real life”.
Basically it’s a meme community and the german version of me_irl.
