You were a kid once and everyone else put up with your shit

We didn't ask to be born. Certain people are also better off as parents than others. @BrickEater@lemmy.world never said anything about seeing them specifically "in public" or not. I doubt their comment was, like, a command to all of society in the way you're perceiving it; they're ultimately just saying that they've had enough of the pains that kids and dogs can bring, which I see nothing wrong with.

This has never happened before, FYI. You literally came in at a weird time lol, probably even the peak of this random event. It's about some dev who made a web frontend for some Lemmy instances' desktop web browsers and went on a power trip to mass-shadowban people as he saw fit (he claimed to be anti-conservative even though the overwhelming Lemmy user base already is, FWIW). Now he's left, it seems, so I think things should calm down.

Right, I've seen Slickdeals and I think Bing eventually take that on over the years: on-mouse-hover shows the original link, temporarily, until you actually right-click and copy, at which point the evil reveals itself lol.

Hmm... now I wonder if a browser add-on could circumvent the right-click interaction and stealth-copy the originally displayed link... lol, it's nuts how far into the weeds of privacy our guerrilla warfare has been getting.

there's historical value in the games as physical objects

I don't understand; does this suddenly become untrue just because they are accessible by other means? Especially with what Sony's been trying to pull as of late...
