I am tempted to agree with you, I mean we're going to run out of graveyard space if we keep it up. We need something like crypts for all the graves from several hundreds of years ago to move into, and then we need to keep on moving people from graveyards into crypts ad infinitum - this way we could still provide graveyard space to people who are remembered by living relatives. I'd say the cut-off could be 3 or 4 generations.
Of more importance to peoples' descendants long term is having good documentation of who their ancestors were, when they were born, married, and died (see websites like: https://www.freebmd2.org.uk/ , if you need this information yourself. this one is UK and i don't know about any american one, sorry.)

Generally speaking, modern buildings are better than old ones. and actual ruins should be integrated into a modern structure on top rather than just left wasting space. (I am not in favour of removing well built old buildings like churches, but i live somewhere where the cult of preserving old housing stock which is no longer fit for purpose, for "historical" reasons, is ruining the country. If you can make something more eco efficient, it must be done.)
to expand on the previous point: people are extremely negative about structures from 1901-2001, and about 2001-2026. There's beauty in them. People will literally learn to hate anything if they hear other people express that it is ugly. These buildings are simply not that bad at al, nor are new buildings.

Something i love talking about in depth is movies, but if I'm completely candid with you I think I had to engage with YouTube essays to learn to do so effectively. You learn fast when the topic is something you enjoy. I study engineering but I recently did an English course externally just for fun, and I was so much more engaged with that then my main course. Human passion is a curse, but without it we stop being human or even animal. With no impetus to do anything, perhaps.
Your own fear is the dam wall holding back a reservoir of curiosity. Let it flow forth. Everything else will come.
The most important thing is just look for what you're into, and latch onto it, and engage with it in as many ways as possible - not just reading and study but doing activities adjacent to it.
Was at my dad's house while he was working from home and saw he used reddit for a coding question. It's just really fucked that they're cutting so many people off from that kind of knowledge, and a lot of them (account-less casual browsers) won't understand any of the drama politics of why reddit is doing this.
I guess I'll tell him about redlib though.
