Home had 4 windows machines a year ago. Now 1 windows machine, a raspberry pi, and 4 linux machines... reckon theres still a real move under the data. Ai may be part but its not all or most.
I agree with you completely on the phones. Ergonomic nightmares on top of all the mtx and game quality issues.
But i think the retro handheld community deserves a bit more consideration than dismissed as museums. They allow portable access to decades of games. Most of which are far more suited to the 20-30 minutes sessions you describe than any games of more recent days.
The blast you have on a 3ds? You can build on that. Either by jailbreaking other platforms (PSP?) or get a newly built device of similar size which adds greater convenience (battery life, usb-C, etc) and add the ability to emulate most consoles. Up to say, Ps3 era and you have decades of options in any genre.
Not sure you are going to find any answers if that isnt going to scratch your itch.
Ive personally never had the multiplayer itch i think you ae referring to and havent played a fraction of the games that habe intrigued me over the years.
First: rude.
I am paying attention.
You on the other hand, made that accusation then quoted text you clearly didnt read.
"...without any actual steps to reduce carbon emissions in power generation"
Now disregarding your wall of patronisation, my statement was accurate : you did not, until said wall, make any comment on reducing the carbon emissions in power generation.
Your references to the economics of power generation supply and price may be accurate in the us but not in all countries. In the uk for example it would need political change to alter the way in which electricity is priced (everything is pegged to the price of gas supply) so renewables at the network level dont get to outcompete on price as you suggest.
To try and avoid the argument you seem to want I'll close with this:
Being more efficient in our use of natural reaources and energy is inherently beneficial and therefore good. But if it enables powers and politics to take efficiency as licence to continue supporting the fossil fuel industry, then it will come at the cost of global commitments to achieving net zero in energy production.
Zero emission production is worth more than efficiency of use. Especially while the us tech hegemony seem intent on destroying the global economy to build out ai services.
Whether or not you can find someone based on their phone number is based on a user setting. Each person chooses whether or not they can be found by their phone number.
Go to Settings - Privacy - Phone number.
Really though, this is an excuse more than a roadblock.
I find people oddly resistant to an additional message app, yet they gleefully download a new app at every carpark they visit. People are odd.
It's fine to have a different opinion but you havent actually contradicted anything. You just listed adaptations without any actual steps to reduce carbon emissions in power generation.
Efficiency may help with other resources but for power generation, efficiency alone is just a strategy to lose the planet more slowly, and given the increasing speed of change in recent years i'm not even sure it can achieve that to a meaningful extent. Hell, look at coca cola: they could, all alone, reduce plastic pollution massively overnight by removing 500ml bottles and selling only alu cans. They have the production facilities already but they dont do it.
Being more efficient about resources used is all well and good, but we still NEED to get carbon neutral on energy production. And that is something that requires political will; and politicians will not touch net zero (or upset rich lobbies) if they think the electorate will settle for an efficiency drive.
Already the nuance in this thread far exceeds anything the political class will engage on. Just in a few comments we have introduced separating power generation from use of other natural resources like water, and factoring human mobility, architecture, materials technologies, national housing stocks, and more.
There are just too many places for the energy companies and polluters to dissemble and hide. Net Zero is a simple, single target that can be measured and people can be held accountable.
Problem is that it seems like every time i hear 'adapt to climate change' it is almost immediately followed by a reduction in effort to achieve net zero.
Adapting shouldnt be part of the conversation because it is not an option at this point. - Its a simple inevitability because so much damage has been done.
Net zero sooner vs later simply changes how many people over how much of the planet actually survive through adaptation.
"Joyce is really the epitome of the American Dream. She's raised two kids on her own. She's worked two jobs for 15 years. She fully supports herself. She's been completely compliant."
Who the fuck dreams of working 2 jobs for 15 years!? - Nobody wants to do that.
Or is it the selfish maga voter's american dream that is being referred to? Having found someone who accepted exploitation and wage slavery without complaint is the dream??
In order to be convicted of destroying evidence, there needs to be proof that there was "evidence" on the phone in the first place.
If something on the phone is already known without doubt, then what's the need for access? if there is doubt at the time of the wipe then there is no proof or destroying evidence. 🤷♂️
Dont think that would be as secure. Once a phone has been unlocked after reboot, even if it has been locked again, the operating system and ram can be accessed quite easily with the correct tools and border controls have those tools.
Even a Graphene phone is only properly secure before first unlock after reboot. So i would not personally rely on allowing acess to any profile. I would assume its possible, (probably trivial) to gain complete access from there.
Any duress pin use should be covered under a person's right to avoid self incrimination.
If the phone is owned by your employer and they are the investigation target, then you might be on dodgy ground.
Read my other comment. The revolving door of party leadership is recent and dysfunctional. And your vote is for your local MP AND the party they are a member of, knowing the policies and leadership of that party.
If you think otherwise you are ignoring a substantial amount of what you should have been considering in your voting decisions.
It's funny to me that nobody is disputing that he is a stooge in thrall to a foreign power. Instead people want to ague about the mechanisma of the elctoral syatem and whether or not burnham's appointment is normal or dysfunctional. Which of these two assertions matters more? Ii is not our expectations of party leadership changes.
But while people want to argue misunderstanding of one thing to discredit the other argument, I'll clarify that I have no misunderstanding of how the system is supposed to work.
We vote for an MP to represent us in parliament, knowing the policies of the party and of it's leader who would step into the pm role. There has never been, on the history of parliament, and expectation that party leadership would change hands like car keys at a swingers party. If you think otherwise, you ae normalising the dysfunctional behaviour and speeding the breakdown of the democratic process.
In my own, experience I have never had a local MP actually represent my view on anything that i have written to them about, they just quote and follow party or funded lines instead. ymmv
This means the pm role and party policies are substantially more impactful.
As a result, ayone casting a vote without at least 50% of their choice being related to party leadership and policies is not understanding the system and is damning the rest of the population by voting for fictional authority over local concerns at the expense of national authority over real issues.
So to my original assertion, Burnham was not elected to the office of PM.
"...pleaded guilty to causing a nuisance without reasonable excuse"
thats a crime? And what would constitute a reasonable excuse?
hey, can we arrest trump for that if he comes back to the uk?

The american dream is a sick, twisted delusion...

Refusal to discuss independence is not the right noises
Border pigs have cellebrite, assume they can access anything left intact.
If it botherw you, wipe it, if it doesnt, you dont really need a duress pin. But login to one profile and cellebrite can get the rest.
And yet, it does matter.
That would be an interesting proposition... under duress load profile x and delete all other profiles, apps, settings and keys.
And thats why you dont travel to countries with ropey regimes
Loading any profile allows the operating system access to root privileges, and opens potential for user privilege escalation.

Restored by a dedicated and talented team or with an ai slop regurgitation machine?
So you agree he is a paid stooge at least.
