@wordle@dan@jswright61 Too sad, Dan! I like the DNF category. One nice thing the NYT kept track of is which puzzles you didn’t get around to playing. Going back to play an unplayed puzzle shouldn’t affect streaks. Maybe a cookie that’s a list of unplayed puzzles when one is missed.

It’s an interesting statistical problem to decide whether hard mode is more difficult than non-hard (avoiding the word “easy”) mode. I found this article: <https://laurentlessard.com/solving-wordle/> that discusses the problem. The author concludes it is more a matter of preference which you choose. Although there is a hard mode strategy that performs better than par.

That was my intention, until I stumbled across the MPR story. I have family in the Twin Cities (headed there next month), I lived there back in the late 70’s for an eventful 18 months, and I like to keep up with news there.
I gotta stay away from the news. I just gotta.

An old friend, a System 360 sysadmin at the time, had had a brutal day with the systems he managed crashing left and right. Later, over beer, he looked at me dolefully and said,
