@GeekFTW It's been two hours since this thread posted, and it still hasn't made its way over to the Lemmy instances I use. I found out about this thread from the post on Lemmy.zip, so thanks for posting it there. In fact, the last post I can currently see on Lemmy is from 9 hours ago.

If it were a one time thing, I could see waiting it out, but these issues have been recurring for weeks (months?) now, with seemingly no end in sight. I vote leave.

In addition to Lemmy, we might look into Mbin. I've seen some discussion of it in the Kbin meta communities as an alternative. We'd want to make very sure we don't end up right back in this situation, though, so I'm more leaning towards a Lemmy instance just because it's the more mature platform.

So there is life here!

Federation isn't working great tonight. Not many posts from this thread made it to the other servers, and it doesn't look like any of my posts in my usual server made it here.

When I had a Moto X way back when, I used "Would you kindly" as the wake word.

I miss that phone, and specifically the custom wake word functionality. Well, that and the wooden back.

It's fairly simple on modern Android. You simply download the APK file, and open it. It will then walk you through the install process.

If you haven't installed an app from your web browser before, you'll get a prompt saying your security settings don't allow the browser to install apps. There will be a settings link there. Tap that link and you'll get a list of apps that have the capability to install things. Find your web browser in the list and tap the toggle to give it permission, then back out. Then your app will install.
