Valid, but there’s a difference between selling a pine box to rich fans with nothing better to spend their money on and having multiple bigoted public meltdowns while your music gets noticeably worse.
If they blatantly say “this is commentary on rampantly consumerism” then the commentary does not work. And either way, there is no bad press. Do people love it? Hate it? Doesn’t matter, they’re talking about it.
It’s not necessary that they’re “allowed” to, it’s that the penalties are laughable. Oh, you’re going to fine our company $100,000 for recording our customers and selling that data to the highest bidder? We literally made $2.4million in that transaction alone, so that 100k is just the cost of doing business.
Penalties need to sting. They need to be personal. The CEO has to suffer when the company does this stuff. Company shares need to lose noticeable value.
Sadly, the government is paid off by these companies…again, the cost of doing business. And business is really, really good.
They need me more than I need them. I put in a little extra time here and there. I roll with management’s last minute emergencies that arise from their lack of planning and communication, and I course correct with knowledge of real world logistics that they never think of, saving their bacon and making them look better than they should. I am flexible and agreeable and get my work done regularly and efficiently.
If they fire me I’ll happily collect unemployment and watch them implode.
When I “request” time off, it’s not a request. It’s a notification. I will be gone. The work needed to be done is done or will be done by the deadlines. Any emergencies that arise in the meantime will be dealt with when I’m back. If my request is denied, that’s not my problem, I will still be gone.
Also: she had real talent, not just daddy’s money. She created art that spoke to millions of people; she didn’t just buy an existing company and take credit for everything. She saw individual people with their own stories, troubles, and dreams, not cattle to be exploited for more wealth.
It literally doesn’t matter if they’re good or not. His base doesn’t care, and it really feels like nobody else does either. The press just finks out with “Trump claims” headlines that quote the lies verbatim. All they need is the principal mouthpiece and the fourth estate does the rest.
Are not the number plate IDs just a stepping stone to tracking people? So apart from letting us know how correct you are, who cares? This is mass surveillance. We are aware. It’s why we’re in this group.
OMG yes. My co-workers used to mildly rib me (they were supportive so it was okay) about eating everything with utensils. I blew their minds by eating crisps with a fork.
It’s to the point where I keep a set with me in case we’re at a restaurant or food truck that doesn’t provide them (or provides flimsy plastic, but that’s a different peeve of mine). There’s just something about food mess overall that I can’t get past.
Hands covered in stuff is a constant issue. I go through so many napkins when eating at a restaurant and still can't wait to be done eating so I can wash my face and hands. I can't even enjoy my food because I'm trying to race through the meal, touching as little as humanly possible, just so I can wash up.
Yeah I get it. We’re stuck forever being surrounded by adults who believe fairy stories. I know they get violent when confronted with reality and spoken plainly to. That doesn’t mean I have to like it or play along. Do I get any special religious treatment anywhere in the world? No, because I refuse to play along with the delusion.
Is this the reality we live in? Yes.
Does that make it right? Nope.
And children and outcasts continue to suffer forever at the hands of the self-deluded “righteous.”
This is just bleak. That paints most of the world as mentally ill, which in turn exempts them from contributing positively to society as a whole. It’s slapping a plaster on a huge issue with human society and calling it good enough. No! We need to find some way to cure this mass delusion.
I don’t care one iota if you think your fantasy world is real. In the real world, people within your group are devastating real people. If you need to be compelled to face reality, so be it.
My usual go to with music is to bring in the trivia. Specifically with the same classic rock being overplayed, I’ll complain by saying “Again? What about [album cut that nobody knows but is obviously better]? [Band] have so many cool tracks they never play.”
Fun side note: this is a common complaint my partner and I have. They need to take a year and not play Hotel California, Love Shack, Don’t Stop Believing, etc. Just give them a rest.
Some years ago, a local classic rock station announced an upcoming “double shot” of Golden Earring. I quipped, “What, are they just going to play Radar Love twice?” AND THEY DID. Single version followed by live version. I guess not even Twilight Zone rates.
Yeah I know a few people who swear by their Flips and Folds, and I really did like that phone, but the experience soured me (ha - lemons) on the folding screen.
I was considering moving to iOS for unrelated reasons anyway, so for an extra 200 over the cost of the screen replacement I just made the jump. Side note: after 13 years of Android, iOS sure is quirky.
My Z Flip 6 died after a year even though I babied that thing. The screen would freeze or fail to turn on unless you warmed up the entire phone. I tried the press-to-reseat-the-cable trick. Nothing worked. Samsung wanted to charge me $400 to repair the screen because it was a month out of warranty.

Luckily for him the US is not civilised.

Yeeesss that lenticular plastic with the tiny ridges. Just your description made me want to heave. Any similar texture to that as well.
I hate that they are not held to a high moral standard and the suffering they impose on others is considered acceptable.
People deserve better than “meh”

This is why I have trust issues.
