My big paranoia is setting up Internet accessible services, I am an idiot...I know this. So if I don't need to expose things to the internet I don't want to. Generally all my services are just for me and I am on my local network pretty much all the time. My mobile device is where the issue lies. Not sure if you can run teleport all the time and if that is a good idea.
so now HA needs an proxy server and a DNS server? There has to be a simpler method that adding additional devices on to the network. More devices, more complex and more points of failure.
I have a number of apps I would like to implement down the road that will likely need some sort of connection either externally or internally via some sort of VPN. It is all very confusing as I everything I read seems to have me adding 4 or 5 more components for DNS, firewalling...etc when can't my Unifi system just do that stuff? I paid more than enough that it should handle these tasks. It does DNS already, so why do I need an external DNS server? Very confusing. Why I have not moved forward on anything, it all feels over complicated and too many ways to screw it up.
Hmmm I have heard folks mention Tailscale. Not too keen on additional accounts let alone things that require you to tie to a Google or Microsoft account. I think Unifi has a VPN. That might work since I already have to have the account for the stupid router.
I have never had it work with a URL and an internal connection. Never connects on internal. at least it used to not. If I remember there was some reverse proxy requirement or something I was never able to get set up. So I was reliant on the duckDNS which had quite a bit of outages for me. I eventually gave up on the companion app.
It was on Windows. Like I said, I just gave up. Until they can actually release a product, it is not something to even worry about. Plenty of other games that have actually been released.
I was more excited about Squadron 42. I backed it a decade ago. Been waiting. Download and installed it a few months ago. Couldn't even get it to launch. Gave up. I have written it off as a lose and moved on.
This is the type of attitude that makes me not talk to humans. Sure I might know something about it but if I tell you then I am an asshole apparently. So....figure it out yourself.
