I can't imagine that a foreign power backing a private company to roll into Yellowstone and start drilling because they said they'd inherited the rights from a different private company they bought who had permission from years ago, would go down too well in the US?

When that failed for consecutive harvests, they starved because the landowners continued to sell the other food sources abroad rather than helping. The invisible hand of the market has little or nothing to do with it because they could never have bought the crops anyway, it was just greed and cruelty.
Of course, this is just a lot faster, so it's equally shitty, but more time effective for them.
