GOS = Easy to super easy

Linage / other on Samsung = hard

In the past other roms on devices have caused issues for me (I'm happy to deal with them) and others (who would prefer to just use google).

I understand you want the best for your friend, but if there already immersed the best experience for them is just default samsung.

It would be better IMO to format, debloat, and then install some privacy friendly options.

  • FDroid
  • Thunderbird / Email client of choice
  • signal
  • browser of choice
  • etc

That way they have some privacy apps to get started.

Exactly. Just like how in the last few years both closed and open source apps/services have more transparency on privacy policys and permersion requirements (and reason). There should be a similar statement for AI use in development and the end product.

I don't want to be using an app that had a lot of permissions to find out its 100% vibe coded by a turkey. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

Ironfox seems to take a fair bit of RAM and spin up my fans. Even if it's one tab doing nothing.

I do have some addons and sync setup though (with the adjust canvas setting on as recommended).

Ungoogled chrome dosnt seem to have an issue. And like another commenter said so many sites break in IronFox I need backup anyway.

But maybe waterfox or zen is better for my use.

I think things like "front it with a reverse proxy" is the stuff OP doesn't understand or want to learn.

Stremio is install, stream. No hosting of own content (and as this thread points out OP probably dosnt have any), no proxy, no downloading and setting up a seperate arr stack.

Put it this way, my 14yr old cousin has Stremio its that simple. While they could install Jellyfin I doubt they could setup and run all the other requirements to obtain and watch media as easily.

I doubt those cultural contexts were understood by most of the west, and yet it was successful.

It goes to reason then that a western remake doesn't need them specifically.

But yeah. Have a fucking original idea Hollywood. I've given up watching remakes and sequels.

I'm keen for v2. I still don't get it but I've been here a while now and want to work out how this stuff works (including Lemmy, PieFed, Mastadon crossposts, comments etc).

Seems easy on the surface but once you dig it's some specialised knowledge.

Good work dude.

I just checked and like OP I can't see how to create a new folder in a mailbox. Where are you doing this in the app?

I'd expect to see it under mailbox > manage folders. But, for me, there's no option to create a new folder.

I use the version before the change. There's some easy instructions to run it as a Linux package (? Sorry not sure of the terminology) as android can do that. The only issue is you dont have a direct GUI and need to use the web interface. I believe its much smaller and more efficient than any app, not to mention uses the "official" version.

This is something that I still don't get. Most info says it doesn't matter what instanc you joined but I never liked the content in my home instance.

The advice is always that you can move instances. So I moved to this one where I followed a lot of the content. But there is no built in way to port over the content you follow. So I had to use a script I found on GirHub.

Then I got Mastadon to see what was going on there. I realised soon that that the content I was following on mastason was the same as Lemmey.

Now moving to PieFed (were I'll still see the same content) as it has better cross posting visibility.

At least this is what i understand.

So then what would I see different on Mbin, or how I supposed to use Masterson different to Lemmy.

*note that see the same content dosnt apply to whatever instances have been defederared (in either direction) from your home.
