Spoilers in markdown sometimes aren't really used for spoilers, but for hiding something unnecessary. One example is posting error logs in an issue tracker. The information is useless to most of the viewers, so hiding it makes it easier to scroll through the issue.
The title probably came from the comic artist themselves. The comic has 1 single panel. I don't think the spoiler really matters. It's for a chuckle.
I do this with bus seats to avoid the sunlight, and it's really quite simple.
First, we'll ignore the movement of time. Focus on the bus route. Figure out which general direction the bus is going by simply drawing a straight line from src to dst.
If the line aligns more with north and south, avoid sunlight by looking at the time of day. If you're taking the bus ride in the morning, avoid the east side. Otherwise, avoid the west side. For example, if you are going south to north in the morning, you sit on the left side of the bus.
If the line aligns more with east and west, avoid sunlight by looking at the season. You need to take into account the latitude you are on as well. The sun moves between 23.5°N and 23.5°S through out the year. If you live norther than 23.5°N, always sit on the north side. If you live souther than 23.5°S, always sit on the south side. If you live at the equator, sit north on southern summer, south on northern summer. For those living in between, find out when the sun is overhead and switch sides after that day, or just follow the equator rule if you don't want it to be so complicated.
