Not surprising, and a good move by Hearn's attorneys. The Trump DOJ has already established a terrible track record for improperly presenting cases to grand juries, and given how much of a reach even charging this guy is, I would almost expect the DOJ attorneys involved to have 'finessed' the grand jury presentation to secure an indictment on such thin evidence.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

More or less sums it up:

On Monday afternoon, Trump told reporters it was a “350-foot slit from one end to the other.”

“I saw it. They cut it. They cut it very violently,” he said.

When a reporter asked to see photos, Trump said, “You’ll see it in court, but all you have to do is call the parks department, call the Department of Interior.”

The National Park Service, U.S. Park Police and Interior Department did not immediately respond to requests from NBC News.

I'll be watching to see how quickly the cases against these 'vandals' fall apart.

Imagine being arrested and charged with a felony because a geriatric narcissist is too far gone to admit his cronies did a shit job:

One man arrested was David Hearn, 67, of Bethesda, Maryland, who owned a company that made composite used to build watercraft. He said he stopped by the pool during his 64-mile bike ride Friday to see what was going on.

Hearn, a former Olympic canoe racer, told The Associated Press that he reached into the pool because he wanted to examine the peeling new coating. He said he briefly touched a chunk that was still attached to the side of the pool, then let go shortly after a park worker told him to.

But, Hearn said, he was then detained by National Guard troops and Park Police for five hours before being released Friday night.

OK. So some asshole shoots up a local politician's house, while he and his eight year old son are inside. Something that:

  • Has only increased support for said politician
  • Has strengthened his resolve to support said data center
  • Will inevitably be used as evidence that anti-AI people are nuts
  • Could easily have ended in the murder of a child, because, again, he was in the house this person indiscriminately fired into

And the reaction here is 'good?'

If you honestly believe this way, you have been dangerously radicalized. Get help before you hurt someone.

The presence of Kazuma and Aqua guarantee that there will be no peace on this flight no matter where one is seated.

It's good, but I'd say it comes in at a definite second place to Worm. There's much more of a focus on trauma and recovery from same, plus a wider cast of characters makes it feel a bit unfocused. Definitely read it if you (1) really enjoyed the angst in Worm and want more like that and (2) are deeply curious about how the world looks post-cataclysm.
