Something else I would do I find a large open parking lot and intentionally drive in a way to make my car lose traction. This way I could practice my over steer, counter steer.
Sure it was fun to play in the snow but I wanted to make sure I had a controlled setting to do this. Just be careful of light poles and other obstacles.
Minor issue is the vulken shaders that load before I play a game. Most of the time it's quick and only done after an update but some games do take a long time.
Also having issues where Wine freezes up when running applications. Sometimes for close to two minutes before responding. I haven't looked into this one yet as it just happened recently.
Bazzite with Nvidia GPU of this matters.
Non pain point not having the system install updates during my "focus" time and bringing the system to a crawl until I let it finish.
Something I picked up when driving in Wisconsin is if you are driving and need to change lanes take your foot off the acceleration pedal if there is a layer of Snow/slush/ice between the lanes. If the tires slip your not adding power to the wheels. Also take your time and slowly drift into the lane. It's not a race.
A tip someone gave me if you can't see the lane markers well is to slowly move towards the rumble strip. This can help you know where the edge of the road is.
I suggest you keep a reflective jacket or vest in the car just so you can be seen IF you need to get out of the car if you get stuck or putting on chains.
I've recently dove back into Linux and my last try was on Mint. After a few issues I went back to Windows. With the recent Microsoft news I wasn't happy using a system that could start spying on me.
It's been close to a month and aside from some specific game issues likely due to running a nivida GPU I've been enjoying my time so far.
Copy paste did take a while to get used to. Also the default screenshot tool doesn't automatically put the snip on the clipboard.
My main focus is gaming so this has been a solid operating system to use.
Treat it like Mac? funny story work issued out phones and gave me an iPhone. I had to turn to my coworker to show me how to use the darn thing. After a month I tossed it into my desk and updated all my contact info back to my Android.
so to me that suggest I fight for a month before condemning it to the deepest pit where light will not reach.
Joking aside I'm liking what I've experienced so far but in the few days of running I've played a few games and watched youtube videos after work. The weekend will be the bigger test.
Yeah. I just had my first run in with an issue that I ended up using the Terminal to fix. I use audio from my monitor that's connected to my Nvidia GPU and it was having a 1-3 second audio delay. It was a power idle default and I had to make some adjustments and get it saved. Still not 100% sure how it works. With how rough google is to search for things I was using chatGPT to help me out. While it worked I don't know how. I imagine as time goes on I'll get more comfortable with it.
Right now I'm playing Silksong, Project Zomboid and The last caretaker. The first two are running fine but the last caretaker is not. It's got noticeable lower graphics from the same hardware and have some latency issues. General discussions seems to suggest its not optimized for Linux.
Agreed. I'm working towards that goal. I think the biggest hurdle is if a game runs on Windows but not as well on Linux I might opt to finish the game on Windows.
Even with proton I did find a game I was playing recently was noticeably lower quality or "laggy"
I left because of things the company was doing. I liked being part of a community that aligned with my interests.
I miss being able to play with people like that. The challenge of raids were fun and I took a lot of pride in the progress we were making.
Honestly it's been lonely. I've tried to play other games with people but it felt disconnected and eventually I walked away from that and only played single player games.
So here's the deal. I can't understand people. Between the ADHD and general hearing issues I would pay a lot to have the ability to have subtitles on people.
I feel left out on a lot of conversations due to not being able to follow along.
Something that's an option is I'm seeing eco skeletons on the market. It's still expensive at $900 but if that means you can give your loved one the ability to walk without risk and hospital visits that could be a way to go.
Might even be covered with some insurance. Just leave a note written by them explaining in simple terms why they are wearing those weird things.
I would if I could. I only found out Verizon has some bullshit lock on my phone that prevents me from at least trying GrapheneOS.
Likely the last time I buy from them and I'll bring my own device next time.
If anyone knows a way around the Verizon lock let me know.
I've been a bodybuilder for six months and this is my take. The diet is big.
Remove excess junk from your food and focus on eating nutrient dense foods. I go hard and measure all my food in grams so I have consistency with my food.
Do you have to do this monk level BS? No but I'm pushing myself for health reasons and want to see where it will take me.
If you can do four to five meal breaks per day. You just eat a lot less per sitting. It helps keep hunger pains away and I never feel like I'm starving or so full I'll burst.
If you find your caloric needs per day you can slowly enter a deficit. KEY. Deficit is not starving yourself. So don't think you can do 1/2 your daily needs and magic will happen. Something will happen but not what you'll want in the end.
If you're open to a suggestion I find swapping the veggies to a Normandy or Melody blend tossed with salt, pepper, garlic powder with a little olive oil and oven roasted taste better.
IMO. Milage will vary

Yep. Learning a lot of common inputs on Windows does and does not apply with Linux. Lots of muscle memory to retrain myself on.
Sometimes ctrl c / v doesn't work and it's a combination of ctrl, super and C.
Que confused "what's the super key"
Turns out that's what the windows key on my keyboard is called. So far only when I was messing with the terminal.
The screenshot tool in Brazzite. I think it's called spectre.

It's been interesting so far. I used it to install some programs instead of using the GUI interface.
Did have to muck around to fix my HDMI audio latency issue. 1-3 seconds of not audio was a bit annoying.
Managed to get my dual boot with windows setup so Linux is the default OS unless I tell it to do Windows instead.
Even used it to shutdown the computer a few times just because I could.
It's not as bad or intimidating but I do know to be cautious.
One bad SUDO and I can wipe something out.

OMG yes. I kept trying to paste information and mucking it up. OR taking screenshots doesn't automatically load the image to clipboard like windows.

I'll check that link this weekend when I have more time.
I have limited experience with terminal. I used it to update Mint last year when I tried but had to read a lot of forums just to know what to type.
I have no idea what btrfs is or gamescope. I'll look them up soon.
I did find the flat pak to help install programs and got a few loaded already.

Fun fact. I had this problem and in the Windows settings I found an option to have the cursor have a circular animation when I hit the Ctrl key.

Be safe. Be smart. Good luck.
