Exactly, jails/prisons being unlivable hellholes is the problem, even horrible people that absolutely deserve to be separated from society shouldn't be treated worse than animals.

he's not special though, our prison industrial complex is absolutely awful, that he's getting no special treatment (besides the ability to tweet for some reason) is nice to hear.

If it makes some chud give even a little shit about how terrible our prisons are and use their oversized cultural influence to try to change it that would probably be the only positive thing this fungus of a person does for the world... i have no illusions though, if anything they'll just make noise until he gets pampered...

Robots have no place in the workforce until all of humanity is reasonably taken care of and don’t need to work. Until then all they’re doing is taking livelihoods away from people.

this is the only thing I agree with you on.

However this is just like being mad at service workers, sure current llms aren't sentient, maybe language models can't be idk i'm not a philosopher or psychologist, but the robot didn't steal your job, they didn't even ask for it, they were built and given it, maybe direct the anger to the person who actually did you wrong instead...

The whole story only makes sense through the propaganda lens, brave freedom fighters against an oppressive government taxing them for no reason.

Then you read the actual context and it's a bunch of new aristocracy high on slave money mad that the empire refuses to let them expand past the boarders established in a war that benefited them and they are now having to pay taxes for.

The first thing the AI Bros want, and the absolute last thing I want, is for my country and social security to get entangled in a pyramid scheme.

i've got bad news for you then... πŸ§‘β€πŸš€πŸ”«πŸ§‘β€πŸš€

You don't have to be Nostrodamus to predict that the 80 year old man who really looks their age and has near monthly "routine" health checks and brags about passing the kinds of cognitive tests they only give when they think you have dementia is going to die soon...

I'm honestly neutral with the change, it makes setting up a new phone a little more annoying, it will just be another step in the process and doesn't stop me from doing anything. However the small barrier will stop scammers pressuring people into installing things. It doesn't make it impossible, but will get rid of a lot of the low hanging fruit.

That allows us to have career politicians

I don't think politician should be a career... There's an old saying i've never much agreed with "those who can't do teach." I think that a more accurate saying would be "those who can't do go into politics."

That movie was criticized because it was on the nose, but if there's one thing the last 20 years has thought me its that there may have been a time for subtle implications, subtext, and understatement, but it's long over.

If you aren't screaming it, they won't hear you and even if they hear you they won't do anything...
