Couldn't get past the pop-ups in the article, but...I'm about 1/5th of the way through Mary McAuliffe's Dawn of the Belle Epoque, a history of the political, social, and cultural upheavel and efforts to rebuild Paris after the Franco-Prussian War in 1871. It's very readable, more like a vibes-based, "this is what a day in the life of 1870s Paris was like" rather than a deep scholarly examination of the issues.

She's got a second volume, Twilight of the Belle Epoque that continues the story from around 1900 into the beginning of WWI.

Yeah, in fact that is one of the main reasons I like sleep (the other reason is that sometimes in dreams I get to be a pirate or fight ninjas and shit).

It you're waking up after any amount of time feeling clamny, sick, or like you've just been drugged, I'm gonna say that's not normal and you should get it checked out by a medical professional.

I got the B&W Boox 7 a few months ago after my old Kindle finally gave up the ghost. Although it's a fully-fledged Android tablet I only use it as an eReader, so color isn't necessary.

Getting a Shelfmark + Calibre + KOReader workflow set up has been a game changer for me.

That does not sound like my experience with sleeping.

Every year we have a big family group chat to decide who will bring what to Thanksgiving even though everyone ends up bringing the same thing every year. I always bring pies.

This year, my young, recently-married cousin said his wife was going to bake a pumpkin pie. He got that message out just moments before I hit send on my annual "I'll bring pies" text. A few minutes later I got a text from my dad saying, "Your grandma wanted to make sure you didn't buy a pumpkin pie since Allie is going to make one." I said I did see it and I promised not to upstage the newest member of the family. Apple and cherry were still mine to cover.

Three days later grandma died in her sleep, and I take that as a sign to never buy pumpkin pie again.

I get that it's cool to shit on superhero movies these days, but man I hope this is good. I am a DC fan and the Snyder movies never did it for me.
