Balloon popping, thunder, fireworks, and gunshots are up there for me. Anything sudden and loud really but those in particular I’m vigilant of. Can’t really watch live action movies because of it, at least not in theatres. Requires a lot of pausing a scene, pacing around a bit before unpausing or just letting it play while I stim until it’s over. I’m more prone to unhealthy stims with noises like this.

Open mouth chewing or people with powerful jaws chewing is uncomfortable. Power chewing makes me feel like I’m going to get eaten. My hair stands on end and I get really fight or flighty. As a kid peers would chew in my face since I was so reactive to it and that definitely made it worse. I’ve given someone a black eye from aggressively spasming when they did it to tease me playfully so its one of those disclaimers I’m pretty quick to spout off from the “Don’t do this or we will guaranteed have a bad time” list.

Otherwise random noises can be highly upsetting for no reason I can discern then be completely fine later.

I also need to know what caused a sound and will openly question where it came from until I figure it out or someone tells me. I wouldn’t say it’s an irritating experience, more of maybe… somewhere in the realm of mild to moderate curiousity and anxiety.

He felt confident enough to breed so hopefully he’s having a good time!

I don’t doubt it affects them more in the wild where something like this matters a lot more to them. Competitor males would feel more confident picking a fight I imagine and perhaps females would be pickier about accepting a maneless lion.

In a zoo setting they’re all comfortably fed and theres no competition.

You will notice he does look a little different from when he left us. Before he embarked on his journey down south, he was given a contraceptive insert to prevent him from breeding - this can sometimes cause a temporary loss of mane due to reduced testosterone.

The implant has now been removed in readiness for him to be joined by his very own pride of females, shortly after he returns. His mane has already started to grow back and it should be fully grown in the next six months.

This article was from 2023 but it looks like his mane never fully returned. It does however appear that the picture was mislabeled.

The video here shows Khari more clearly- maneless but with darker shoulders and a more square head.

This article seems to label the image referenced correctly.

This got a laugh out of my grandma and she wanted me to let you know she says:

“This me-me is very funny, thank you for sharing it on the internet.”

I use an assortment of programs depending entirely on my vibes for the day:

Procreate, Paint Tool Sai, Clip Studio Paint MS Paint (Classic version), Gimp, Flipnote, Minecraft mod Joy of Painting, Vintage Story mod Vintage Canvas.

For the upright tablet situation maybe try adjusting the angle if possible with a stand? I can’t do certain steep angles at all without causing discomfort.
