If you've ever looked at a world map you'd see that the Iberian peninsula is part of southern Europe. Africa is to the south of Europe. The south of the Iberian peninsula is so close to the north of Africa that you can see across the gap on a clear day.

Ships have existed for a long time. A country can govern over 2 places that are not connected by land.

You work because you need a pay check. However, there are thousands of professions out there. All of them give pay checks. If you're a chef it's because you chose chef out of the thousand options.

So there might be something about it that made you choose it. Some might have chosen it because it was the least worst paying option available for them. Others might choose it because it makes it easier to get laid. Some (as the post suggests) might choose it for the love of the art.

The post is asking if there are some that choose it for the working environment.

Usually loading zones have a timeframe. In that time, it is a loading zone. Outside of it it's regular parking. That's why you often see cars parked at loading zones. As long as they move the car before it becomes a loading zone again, they're using it as intended.

I don't know of a single person who would hear "child porn" and think it's somehow harmless.

If you're used to hearing "child porn" and someone says "child sexual abuse material" you wouldn't think it's CP, since then they'd just say CP. It must be some kind of sexual abuse that is not as bad as CP, since they would call it that otherwise.

It's even worse since "Child sexual abuse material" is so fucking long noone bothers to write it all, they just say CSAM, which has no meaning. If you don't know what CSAM means, you won't be shocked at all about the news. Meanwhile CP is most oftenly written as "child porn", mostly using CP when "child porn" was already said. CP is a non-confusing name that everyone is familiar with, that is much more descriptive, and should generate hatred in the mind of any healthy person.

The only reason CSAM is used is because of American puritanism doesn't let you say "porn", which permeates to every enterprise setting. So you can't call your software "child porn detection software" (think of the children!) you have to call it "CSAM detection software". Pair that with the obnoxious need of some people to come up with new names for everything and call you *-ist for using the "old" name. And suddenly headlines are filled with random 4 letter acronyms without meaning instead of using the appropriate words.

FFXVI

I saw the trailer years ago and seemed good, so I wanted to give it a try. I of course looked for online reviews and game journalists were praising it so I bought it.

It's horrible. The only reason I played a lot of hours is because there's an endless stream of cinematics.

The strong point is supposed to be the story. But the story is so fucking stupid. The lore and world building is good, but the story is shit.

I don't know how game journalists are even allowed to exist.

EDIT: mistakenly wrote XIV instead of XVI

I know I'm commenting on a bird community. But I don't want all the notes to have birds & buildings.

The other design is much worse though.

There's really only 2 options: birds and select few people. Why though? What's wrong with the current notes? Can't we have more than 2 options? I hate both of them.

This is actually true though. Basically every country has done it.

If printing money results in enough value created, there is no inflation.

Of course, you have to create a lot of value per money printed, which no country has achieved. And that's where taxes come in and fill the gap.

Many of the "economic miracles" involved printing a lot of money. But since their value output increased so fast, (and again, taxes) they experienced little inflation.

It is theoretically possible to print money without taxes and not have inflation. That would be more than a miracle though. If you get even more efficient with money, even deflation would happen.

It's the same reasoning behind debt. Debt is "bad" because you have to pay more than what you were paid. But if you are smart with that money and create more money from it, you can pay back the debt (including interests) and get some extra money for yourself.

Yeah. I just hate people that act entitled to the government building them enormous flat roads so they can move themselves in an oversized emotional support vehicle so they can watch tiktoks while driving without going out of their lane. While also disregarding the safety of everyone around them, which could basically be killed in an instant by them.

No war but class war! So I'm going to protect the class traitor that gave all the power to the Epstein class!

Survivorship bias.

Right wing tech folks abuse their workers and customers, which brings in money to grow the company. Which makes their companies enormous.

If you treat customers and workers fairly, you'll earn much less money, slowing down the growth of your company. Which ends up eliminating you via competition.

Companies can only be ethical if governments force them to be so. Otherwise their future is doomed.

The edge of the observable universe is not because of that.

It is because space expands. Therefore everything goes away from everything else. Therefore, everything goes away from us. And the more space there is between us and that other thing, the more space expands, since there is more space. Therefore, things that are farther away from us, get away from us faster than everything else. Only if it is close enough to us that gravity is strong enough would that something not move away from us.

This creates a peculiar situation. Things that are far enough away from us, actually move away from us faster than the speed of light. This means that no photon ever emitted from this far away will ever reach us.

That is the edge of the observable universe. The distance at which a photon emitted in our direction will never reach us, since for every meter the photon travels, there is at least a meter of space "created" between us. Therefore it never progresses in moving towards us, in fact, it moves away from us even though it is traveling in our direction.
