I managed to get a used Fold 5 in surprisingly good shape considering the previous owner's occupation (ocean-based field work), and it's been shockingly robust.
I'd previously been of the same opinion, but I don't see myself going back to a regular phone whenever I decide to upgrade. That being said, even Samsung's newest Fold barely looks like an improvement to the Fold 5 for what I look for in a phone so I doubt I'll be upgrading anytime soon.
I'm fairly certain that if dbrand had asked first, they would've been able to reach an agreement with Valve.
That being said, the way they went about it basically made it guaranteed that Valve would refuse and never change their mind, since allowing it would signal that others can use Valve's IP to develop a product without authorization and then use public interest to pressure Valve in allowing the use.
I've had mine since Monday and so far I've been very happy with it. Because of my work schedule, I've probably only played about 2-4 hours but the convenience of how quickly it boots up or even just being able to pause/resume a game like on the Steam Deck has been amazing.
I got the 2TB Machine so I got the 2 extra faceplates, both are really nice and I've opted to go with the wooden one. All 3 (2 extras and the normal black one) feel very well built (each is slightly different due to the variation in materials) and are extremely easy to swap due to the magnets.
Setup was a bit tricky though. I'd gotten my Steam Controller when they initially came out so it was paired to my desktop PC. I tried to follow the setup video that Valve posted but even with the puck connected to my Machine, it just wouldn't work. If I wired the controller directly to the Machine, it would work for a couple of inputs then it would stop. That being said, I plugged in an Xbox controller, which immediately worked. Then after running the various firmware updates, the Machine actually recognized that the Steam Controller wasn't paired properly and it walked me through how to pair it with it. Since doing that, I've not had any issues with it and the controller has been able to turn on the Machine from sleep or even from a power off state every time I've tried. CEC has also been hit or miss, it's really convenient when it works but sometimes it won't switch the input or turn off my TV after shutting down. That being said, I'm pretty sure it's more an issue with my TV than the Machine since I've had similar CEC issues before.
Happy to test anything (non destructive of course) or expand on anything I've said if anyone is curious.
This is a pretty ridiculous take if we're being honest. Saying the Machine misses the mark for all gamers assumes that all gamers want to only play the latest releases at 4K60, meanwhile, many are more than happy to play at 1080p or 1440p, and most buyers of the Machine will have preexisting libraries that they want to play (especially as reservations were gated to existing steam accounts). Most of those games will likely not be the most demanding titles available. For instance, I've yet to actually find a title that hasn't ran well at 1080p (and in many cases 4K) out of my 1,000+ game library, especially since not every game is ideal for couch gaming which is what the Machine is intended to provide.
Additionally, anything that ran on the Steam Deck will run even better on the Machine. Plus it gives a fixed hardware point for devs to target, which is likely to happen similar to what we've seen since the Deck launched.
Sure the Machine is expensive, and it may not be the perfect device for some customers like yourself, but for many it meets enough criterias to more than justify the price.

Looks to be listed on the linked webpage. Most are seeing no change or as little as 1-5% however the Switch 2 Pro Controller is going to be a 16% reduction.
Having not seen teardowns of anything past the Switch 1, I'm curious why the Pro Controller has such a massive drop compared to everything else.
Got the email to purchase mine (2TB no controller, but I managed to get a controller when they first came out so not too disappointed I didn't get the bundle) last Wednesday, it shipped the following day and should be arriving on Monday. I actually have the day off too so I'm looking forward to spending a good amount of the day testing it out when it arrives.

I don't disagree that for most people, this will result in significantly less anonymity on the web and overall is a very dangerous trend.
However, that doesn't mean that there won't still be some countries that do not have such laws and that don't answer to US/EU regulatory attempts. That's already how many quasi-illegal (or even straight up illegal) websites that operate in such countries (such as circumventing DMCA requests), and these laws are highly unlikely to entirely prevent those from continuing to find safe haven countries.
Valve's logic (as shown in the Steam Machine overview video) is that you use the integrated puck for the actual connection and then you can use the puck that comes with the controller anywhere to charge the controller (such as by your couch). The standalone puck then just needs power since it's not handling any communication.

I've had an Ender 5 Pro for many years that I've modified a fair bit (but likely wouldn't recommend nowadays), I don't have hands on experience with any newer printers but I've been doing a bunch of research for the last few months to see what I might replace it with so I might be able to point you in a few directions depending on your answers to those three criterias.
Personally, beyond HDMI CEC I'm heavily considering picking it up if I get a slot as Valve has a great track record of supporting their hardware, it is quiet and relatively low power consumption, and I will likely not have to tinker much to get a solid experience.
To me it's similar to 3D printers, you can either pay less and the hardware becomes part of the project/hobby itself. Or you can pay a bit more and just get to reliably use the hardware.
Many crimes have a maximum sentence of 2 years less a day, but it's also often used as a sentence as a result of how the Criminal Code requires sentences to be served.
Sentences of 2 years or more need to be served in a federal prison, so a sentence of 2 years less a day allows the sentence to be served in a correctional facility/provincial jail instead.
Unfortunately that would also skew the results quite a bit. We'd end up only having actual data on the types of people who volunteer for the long form.
I say this as someone who would gladly do the long form every time (only gotten that lucky once so far but it was a lovely experience).

I feel like the graphic would be much easier to read if it was flipped. Having the fastest cars at the bottom really isn't intuitive.
