Not disagreeing with you, but to become an electrician in Canada it’s a 4 year apprenticeship. Same with plumbing. The rest in your list though, I don’t know enough about, though sounds kinda right maybe
Why does life in and of itself need to have meaning (beyond the obvious “survival”? Why can’t you, with your abilities of thinking and reason, assign your own meaning to it?
Just started listening to Lilith by Nikki Marmery, a novel about Adam’s first wife, and how she was demonized. So far I really like it, and the reader has the best accent, I haven’t looked up where she’s from, but she sounds Irish to me.
Just finished rereading the entire Murderbot series in time to read her newest book, Plarform Decay (which was good, I liked it, but I want to hear more about certain aspects of the story).
Huh? The only addiction mentioned here is to nicotine. You’re not actually referring to taking prescription medication as prescribed as an addiction, are you?
The Hands Of The Emperor by Victoria Goddard focuses on the rebuilding of the (a) world after an apocalyptic type disaster. It focuses on a small handful of people and their work. It’s the first in a series (the Lays of the Hearthfire) and is a segue into a ton of Nine Worlds stories
I was hoping someone would mention this!! I absolutely love anything in the Nine Worlds! Not all of which is necessarily calming - Jemis, I’m looking at you 👀
They’re looking good! I made those socks once and vowed Never Again. I like knitting socks, but that pattern just killed me for some reason. Looks like you’re doing great, though!
There was no initial explanation as to why the shell ended up in the man’s body, but local media speculated that it might have had something to do with his social life.
Hahaha I wonder if they did the same thing with anyone from Dildo, Newfoundland

Haha my Oma did this one year, as the sticker came off almost immediately, and the registry wouldn’t replace it for her

This entire trilogy is such a mind fuck, but entirely worth reading, imo
I read this before the movie was a thing, knew nothing about the story going in, and LOVED it!! Did not see it coming!

To Be Taught, If Fortunate is another of hers that’s fantastic, and focuses on society working together towards the greater good

Good for you! Life is too short to read disappointing stories, there are way too many other good ones out there waiting for you.
Have you read any Murderbot? All Systems Red got me hooked (Martha Wells)

Nah, there are so many better options out there than Harry Potter. Life is too short to read antisemitism.
Have you read The Gilded Ones, by Namina Forna? It’s the first book in a great series, and it kicks the shit out of Harry Potter.
The Sisters Avramapul series by Victoria Goddard is another one (along with everything else in her Nine Worlds universe)
Or the Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers
The House in the Cerulean Sea by T J Klune
Derring-do For Beginners by Victoria Goddard
Edited for a word and to add another rec
Keanu is Canadian. But still, he’s a goddamn national treasure
