Everything about this is fascinating to me. A mother and son spend 5 years and apparently just $200 to make an animated film. The animation is terrible. It predictably flops. But after about a week in theaters it goes insanely viral and all of a sudden it's now the most profitable relative to budget box office of all time.
Based on comments I've seen from people that have seen it, it's a so bad it's good type of movie, but some people actually did enjoy parts of the story and the music.

Personally I think it was fine. Each Korra season had a story and an arc. I wouldn't call it being stitched up. A full series overarching plot would be nice but imo it's not super important.

They're still making Common Side Effects. We're supposed to get more info and I believe a screening of season 2 as well during the upcoming Annecy Festival in a few weeks.
Due to personal life stuff I was not very active on !animation@piefed.social for the last few months of 2025. Thankfully, due to a handful of users who I'm very grateful to, there was some semi-regular activity still that kept the community active and slowly growing.
Since February I've been slowing getting more and more active. We're at 1.8k subscribers after almost a year on piefed which is more than it had after about a year on lemm.ee. But I also don't think it's quite as active as it was it was back then which is partly my own fault.

It's been so long since I watched Ponyo, I barely remember anything about it. Definitely due for a rewatch.

I liked it, it's just not in my favorite as I was making this image.
Secret of Kells was 2009 and Big Hero 6 was 12 years ago but it's fine. Close enough.
