Its not as messy for me, but took time to come up with something that works for me. The three categories are intentional. "Next" are basically simple tasks that can be done at once (but take more than a few mins), added after planning, so that doesn't really change once they are added (and I just tick what is done). In progress, pretty similar, but longer term tasks (maybe not perfect name for the category). I usually keep a section under the task based on how much I expect sub-tasks or notes. And inbox, well its just add all, plan later list. When something moves to next or in progress or is done immediately I just tick it in inbox. In inbox I have 3 types of tick-boxes. Square ones - if I expect a task to be doable fast without moving it anywhere (in GTD those are the under 2 minutes tasks). Then round one for tasks that need to be added to next. And triangle for tasks that will be longer-term tasks and need to be added to the in-progress section once I decide to do them.
Not really, I have them home at my desk. When I have something I need to add when I am not home I usually add it to the self-message on Signal which I basically use as inbox for all sorts of ideas anyway.
I have been looking for a good to-do ecosystem for so long that I ended up with pen and paper. Hear me out. I bought very nice a6 paper notebook and very comfortable ball pen an I just enjoy having this one non-digital, offline thing. After years of not writing with pen and doing most of my life management digitally, having this one thing this way... It's hard to explain but I enjoy. I even try to write with nice joined-up writing, because it's not like in school when I had to write a lot fast. No, every to-do is a few words or a sentence and thus I can take time and write nicely. At the beginning of the notebook I have next todos section, in the middle I have in progress long term todos and at the back I have inbox.
I would remove Brax Phone altogether, that guy is fearmongering people into buying old insecure phones. There were times I was watching his videos until I saw the pattern...
Oh man how I wish Steam made a linux phone... Sure we have pmOS but it not yet daily driveable (I have it on op6) for most people and second, once there is official Linux phone from a big company, every Linux phone benefits because there will be new apps like banking apps and similar.
Yeah, had the same, but nowadays I have local dedicated VMs for each development project, to mitigate stuff like supply chain attack. The side effect is that it's easier to just copy the VM to the new system. I am thinking though on creating ansible scripts for each use case to be able to "reset" the vm's once in a while.
I meant that if a week passes and he doesn't like it it's easy to switch. Otherwise it's always somewhat harder to switch once you are nicely settled. I always keep a step by step what I do after fresh install and I try to keep as many (important) files on my nas as possible.
I never liked the shenanigans of keeping my home. First, it means you keep a lots of garbage and I kinda like starting fresh. Second, it's way too much work. I usually just copy full home to external drive, reinstall and copy stuff back when I need it. This way I really keep from home only what I really need and the rest is ovewritten before next reinstall.
That said, I have actually settled on Fedora like 4 years ago and since then reinstalled only once (again Fedora, I just wanted clean start).
U can use so many better alternatives to backup your photos off site, google is training their ai on your photos.
You can use proton drive for example. Or choose a provider for cold storage or something.

Tbh depending on your threat model you might be ok with just a regular os, flatpak sandboxing and an occasional vm. For example I have VMs for my dev projects, or for tools that I use seldomly but doesn't trust like android tools. If I need I pass usb in (like if I want to flash phone with the android tools..)
You will be much less limited but still have decent protection and those vms start fast. I have Fedora host with Fedora VMs and they start in like 10 seconds.
I just think that if we blow out of proportion every mistake everyone makes we may as well start living in isolation in the woods. I think Proton did a lots of good and still does and they deserve benefit of the doubt. All the dramas are imo just a mistakes or misunderstandings echo-chambered by internet to death (and intentionally fed by competition as well). When you take a moment and look at the pure facts reasonably you will probably come to the same conclusion.
I think Signal has this by default. It's called "note to self". So not really my idea 😀

Opnsense can't do wi-fi as far as I know, so its more like firewall/managed switch rather than router, isn't it?

I am happy I found this a few month ago too and Prism Launcher is simply good. And installed as flatpak gives you some sandboxing too.
