I don't have a money tree in my backyard so I don't consider $650 a mid-range price. Especially not for a mobile device that's guaranteed to get abused.

I paid I think $300-350 for my Pixel 4a years ago and it's still working fine. That's my price point for something I know I'm going to drop repeatedly.

I got one especially because its gonna get abused. I swapped my USB port for like 15€ myself after I carelessly fucked it up. Had it been a Pixel, I would have probably bought an entire new phone.

Fairphone is still very expensive for what it is, but they at least they try to offer repairability, long support and fairer material sourcing and wages. But I understand not getting one. You pay a premium price for a mid-range product.

No, thank you! I'm definitely getting one next time I have the money, thanks to your work of making it a viable option!

Too bad the F6+ only fully works on T-Mobile in the US. AT&T, too, but their MVNOs are pot luck as regards certain features & functionality. Verizon & their MVNOs are completely out.

PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de · 3 pts · 2d (1 reply)

Wait actually? That is a shame. I don't even know what an MVNO is. Y'all don't got SIM cards over there?

harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 2d

MVNO is Mobile Virtual Network Operator - Mint, Metro, Cricket, Boost. They rent services from the companies that actually own the infrastructure, such as T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.

when will a nice repairable phone without stupid "fair"ness come out?

dieTasse@feddit.org · 6 pts · 2d (3 replies)

Whats stupid about wanting to give people fair wages?

jumping_redditor@sh.itjust.works · -2 pts · 1d (2 replies)

it costs more.

dieTasse@feddit.org · 2 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Would you like to be paid less while working in worse conditions?

Dude's like Dracula Flow, if his electronics don't come from the most horrific situations possible, he doesn't want them. :D
