I get why mountain bikes are expensive. Strong frames, suspension, components that still work when subjected to mud and snow, wide rims that can take hits, complex tire tread patterns.
What do you get going from a $1500 road bike to a $5000-$10000 road bike? Weight savings less than the weight of a good poop, and tiny aerodynamic improvements that do not matter unless you are fast enough that your team is buying your bike for you. Oh, and electronic shifting for some reason?
There is a construction site about 100m from my house and they are playing very loud very bad music. Objectively bad. Every single song has the exact same canned bass line. It is driving me crazy.
You generally want your speakers to all match. Not necessarily the same speaker, but designed to work together. If you get two rears that are good independently but have very different characteristics from the front, it may sound worse than just the fronts. Or you might get lucky and it sounds great.
Maybe buy some used speakers, and if they don't sound good, sell them and buy some more used ones.
The other real reason: the Epstein class that owns the companies also owns the office real estate and also owns residential real estate, of which they do not want the value to go down because of supply increase if office space is repurposed as residential.
Cars: the loud music, the engine/exhaust sound, the tire-road noise, the air noise, the decrease in natural noises (e.g.: birds) because car-centric infrastructure decimated and divided natural spaces.
