Pretty sure the Amazon vault lock offerings are essentially specific implementations of the broad idea of an immutable backup. Not disagreeing with you here, just saying this might not be an “or” situation.
Unfortunately for me that’s not how it works here, I’m not sure that I disagree with it though. My neighbor wasn’t at fault for an idiot stealing her car and hitting mine so it seems odd to me she’d have to pay for it.
I will say, I think Hyundai should have some liability for building their modern cars without basic, standard, and inconsequentially cheap security features!
I’d just like to say that even with an admin account being compromised (get your shit together @MichelleG (mostly kidding but 2FA fr :P )), lemmy.world still worked well with third party apps, and most importantly: the majority of the fediverse was unimpacted!
Mine is in dark mode but is still terrible looking — not invisible but washed out.
That aside, I will say this feature is fantastic, the garage icon doesn’t appear on the Home Screen until you’re in a decent proximity to your home, but still allows you to use it soon enough that your garage is fully open by the time you pull up the drive!
I usually use wefwef/voyager and just now tried to hit lemmy.world in a browser, having similar issues. Guessing there’s gonna be an update to the open source code soon!
Out of the box dd will not make a direct/ “exact copy with DRM and all” — DVD drive hardware by specification and design will not read out all bits unless the app communicating with it first authenticates as a trusted app.
It’ll actually make quite a different, unusable copy! A link with a little more info:

It’s the responsibility of the car thief who wasn’t caught and so it ended up being taken care of by my uninsured motorist insurance.

If it’s Disney without DRM it’s probably a bootleg DVD
Yeah, an already ripped DVD or a non DRM protected DVD, which is as difficult as copying files from a USB and why dd works here.
Yeah this won’t work with 99.9 percent of DVDs or Blu-ray because of the DRM and the way the drives behave, not sure why you’d even post this.
